Everyone has a
guardian angel.
Tintin was weighed down by trying to give Haddock an arc, and handling two Tintin stories at once. But the slapstick was on point.

Oh yeah, I forgot it existed about a day after seeing it. Tintin was quite fun though, whatever happened to the promised sequel Peter Jackson was supposed to do? Was it the Hobbit? Did the Hobbit kill everything (itself included) in its wake?

Didn't The Hobbit indirectly kill The Mountains of Madness because del Toro was initially tapped to direct it?

Any humor to do with Haddock was a complete misfire in my book. I can't remember a character I've found more grating and obnoxious on screen.

del Toro apparently credits Prometheus more for killing it than The Hobbit.

Spotlight was good but I'm not sure I'd say it 'ruled', it certainly doesn't come close to The Insider in my book.

Are you really knocking Conrad Hall for making a movie look really good?

Because it's seriously a very, very good-looking movie. That might be the most worthwhile Oscar that movie got.

Yeah that's a good point. Spotlight was far better than the paint by numbers trailer with the super emotional music underneath would have you believe.

Also it still amazes me that that entire cast was so stacked.

Speaking of - "All the Money in the World" (the Ridley Scott "Getty" film) had Kevin Spacey in it. The movie is due out December 22 and they are going to reshoot ALL of his parts (about 8 or 10 days worth according to the article, although I imagine they're finding ways to shorten his role) and still try to get the movie out on time.

Perhaps it's in the nature of television. Just waves in space.
So Soderbergh has been working with HBO on a mini-series that they've been keeping under wraps for a while.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUdbzRifJ2E

Basically, it's a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book except you choose the PERSPECTIVE from which you see the story; the story is the same no matter where you watch it from, but you get more clues/different parts of the story depending on how you watch it. So your first time viewing it will be in completely different context from your second time.

It's definitely a really gimmicky idea, but... I'm kinda interested. You can download the App now and watch everything on your phone (or AppleTV), and HBO will be airing it as a miniseries in January.

Who was it that was asking about slowed down/overly dramatic covers of pop songs in trailers? Auralnauts did that to "You Spin Me Round" by Dead Or Alive for one of their videos and people liked it so much they went and recorded the full song:
