The fact that Warstore has this for basically $100 makes it a lot more tempting.

Preordered Necromunda and found out my local GW is planning to run events of it the last Saturday of each month, so hopefully it’ll take off. Also got Silver Tower for my birthday, so now I’m so far behind in models I should probably just try to get on disability so I can get through my backlog.

Never heard of Dicehead and I dropped the Warstore after they started charging shipping for everything. Plus, at the time, Doc's offered a better discount. eBay's been pretty good lately for preorders, but nobody has really posted anything yet for some reason.

I notice that the Hero Cards expansion for Silver Tower isn’t on the US GW site, but it’s still on the NZ site. Anyone know whether that’s still a thing or do you have to get them via the app now?

So this is cool: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/11/13/coming-soon-beastman-underhive/ Beastmen making a return to the 40k setting via Necromunda.

I love how he's a bulkier, more grizzled version of the original RT figure. Life in the Underhive has changed him

I've got at least one of the original - maybe two. I like the idea, but I'm not digging that new sculpt. The plasma pistol looks like a terrible Super-soaker.

Just a reminder that there's a weapon for the Goliath gangs called the "pud-jacker". Carry on.

I think it's a typo for spud-jacker, which is a gloriously stupid name.

Yeah, seems like it's a typo. I think it's better as a Pud-Jacker.

Hey, ugh, I have a weird question. Are the frames in the main box and the gang boxes going to be identical? A dude at my FLGS yesterday offered to buy mine once they come in because he things the ladies might be different from the gang box.

Holy moley that €291 kit for Necromunda. That's almost everything twice, right? Except for the board and books?

See that's why I was asking. It's been a loooong time since I dealt with GW and I was worried it was a totally fragmented release, or that maybe there was very little stuff in the Underhive box. Also as an aside the bulkheads and objective pieces look atrocious, the modular card stuff they released for NM and Outlanders were waaay better. edit: although I guess that's an apples and oranges thing, seeing as base NM is now a 2d game, but I'd love some good card walkways for the 3d fights. The terrain might not be as good as the old card stuff but I think it looks fine. The box looks like it should have enough 2d barriers for blocking off los. On that note - where is the best place to get necromunda terrain from? The 40k stuff is really expensive and doesn't have enough walkways for my tastes. https://www.facebook.com/pg/LaserCutCard/posts/?ref=page_internal looks like a good start - it would be about £20 for the three towers and walkways. The other option I was thinking about was TTcombat MDF, but all the non walkway stuff they do is a little big and I worry about storage.

I bought a bunch of stuff from Promethium Forge through their recent kickstarter. It's very nice stuff, you basically just have to punch it out of the sheets and assemble it and you don't even really need a tool to do it. It's clearly inspired by the old Necromunda terrain. It might be expensive to get it to the UK though?

You might want duplicates for: a) Using them in 40k b) Giving them different weapon options etc. either to have extra gangers or to represent upgrades etc. c) Because they're cool toys I'm not sure I'd throw down £250 on buying half the stuff twice for just those reasons though. Tbf to GW, this is probably a meaningless amount of effort for them to put on the website, and it's SOP that they put together a "one click to buy everything we released for X this week" thing. They're never discounted and they often don't make a lot of sense to buy, but on the offchance someone clicks it they might as well list it.

GW also said gangs are going to have larger cap sizes in this version so you have more choice when you pick your crew for a scenario.

It might be expensive to get it to the UK though? That is very nice stuff - pretty much ideal but yeah shipping to the uk for the small set is $35 and the larger set 65. Still, its an option. Edit: The mini-bulkhead set is only a bit more expensive (including shipping) than the mantic gang warzone set but looks like it would cover a much bigger area. Combined with the doors and barricades of the box its actually quite tempting. Maybe in the new year. MrFlibble fucked around with this message at 16:19 on Nov 14, 2017 |

You can check eBay for Mantic's Battlezones, the aesthetic doesn't quite match up with 40k pieces but I'm hoping a unified color scheme would help pull it together. I'm planning to not intersperse it, have the GE stuff be the factory and the Mantic's stuff be the Hab-Block the workers live in.

Personally, I'd hold off on a second gang box until we see how the rules work. In the old version of NM, you'd want a larger gang to increase your bottle limit (25% of your gang.) I'm not sure if bottle tests will be a thing in the new version though. They've also changed the gang structure - Juves are in the advanced Gang War rules, and Heavies are now Specialists/Champions. I've got the new WD, but haven't read all the particulars yet.

BoLS has an unboxing and short article about the game. Most distressing is their comment of: quote:[Gang War,] the framework for campaigns and for more advanced rules like hired guns and raw recruits and so on–though, distressingly, it feels incomplete. There are several sections in the book that say “(more details in a forthcoming supplement)” which kind of stings if you’ve already picked up a boxed set AND another book. Go to all that trouble and the game still doesn’t feel complete?

The second complaint sounds like nitpicking. Once you know what a rule does, it doesn't matter exactly where in the book it appeared. ... And only a few pages from its first appearance is FAR from the worst. (Remember wondering how much damage [W] meant in 4e?) I'm curious how much future expansion is referenced, though.

moths posted:The second complaint sounds like nitpicking. Once you know what a rule does, it doesn't matter exactly where in the book it appeared. Eh, I kind of disagree. For people who are familiar with poorly written rules, yeah, it's not terrible, mostly because we're used to that kind of stuff. For a newer player though, it can be pretty confusing ("Wait - what? Did I miss where that was referenced? What is a 'bottle test?'") Also, it's bad technical writing - if you're talking about something that hasn't been explained yet, reference the page where you can find it or put in a sidebar. Personally, I've always hated that poo poo, because you see it in a lot of programming books that reference something that isn't explained until a chapter later.

I'm definitely not a fan of it - but I feel like if all the relevant parts are in the same chapter, they haven't failed. Information needs to be presented in some sequence, some things will always come after others.
