I always thought burgeoning meant to grow or function slowly or in a laboured way, as in, a burgeoning business is one that is struggling to make it to the end of the year. Apparently it just means to grow, or to grow rapidly. I guess I've misunderstood a lot of op-ed pieces about economies over the years

On the topic of Mondegreens, I only just found out that the Chorus Lyric in the Billy Squire song "The Stroke" isn't "Something's Cookin" but rather "Stroke Me, Stroke Me". I now understand people who say their minds are blown by a misconception. I never even knew the name of the song until very recently, so I never had any idea it could or should be anything else.
