I started playing this game again and trying to get some heroes to level 5. I have been playing Diablo and have gotten MVP once in a coop AI game and just played a game with an ETC and we bullied people by just knocking them around in our group over and over. I have been having fun and have not had anyone yell at me, so I guess HOTS is less toxic than other MOBAs now.

Honestly the really toxic people are pretty rare but I mainly play quick match where I guess the stakes are a lot lower. When they show up they are super irritating since they are loving up 20 minutes of your day and your only option is to let them do it or take a leaver penalty but I think it's really only 1 out of 10 games where I have a problem.

I've now had multiple people over the last couple of days get incredibly bitchy over vs AI games which is maybe the dumbest thing in the world to get salty over, including one dude who decided to start messaging me after the game was over because I told him nobody cared.

The only times I've seen people get pissy in Vs AI games is when you have obvious AFK leechers. I even had a rather civil conversation with someone who was Auriel-ing very wrong and was rather receptive to correction.

I'm guessing they were ignoring their D key completely. About 85% of Auriels I encounter in bot games do that.

I hate playing Xul in normal games but he's very relaxing in bot games. Just get Trag'oul's essence, perma push two lanes, and relax as the AI fails to address you.

Dicking around with Alexstrasza but the level 1 talent that reduces your Gift of Life cooldown while at high health combined with the level 7 talent that lets you pick up a flower that makes your next Gift of Life cast require no health sacrifice seems pretty good. It's like a 3.5 second cooldown on an 800+ burst heal by level 20.

I had the most success with the Level 1 quest that reduced the cooldown of Dragon Form. You don't really get to use it a whole lot early on, but holy poo poo having it up for every single objective afterwards is so nice

You don't really get to use it a whole lot early on, but holy poo poo having it up for every single objective afterwards is so nice That was the one I tried to start with, going full E build, but that particular quest seems to take forever to stack especially since you don't get stacks for using your E while you're a dragon, which means that until you complete it you're incentivized not to use your trait. I mean I'm a certified bad, but it seems like a bit too much of a delay on return. I do like the E talent that ups the slow on consecutive flame blasts to 60%, with that going as soon as you land two back to back fireballs on someone they become free gank bait because you can just keep the slow going as long as you have mana to spend. Also I think her fireball bombardment ult is the clear winner so far.

She seems pretty strong on the healing side of things, she doesn't seem to have as much non-healing utility as other supports...you can talent into what's basically a 60% perma-slow if you can chain skillshots, but otherwise she doesn't have any roots, silences, blinds, etc. No, wait, at level...13 I think you can get a Shrink Ray esque talent, but I think that's about it. I also don't think she has anything that cleanses, but I could be overlooking something. That said, she does do quite a lot of healing if you talent for it. Like I said earlier, going for the Gift of Life talents at 1 and 7 gives you a pretty easy way to pump out a lot of burst healing, her fireball ult actually does quite a bit of healing if you target allies with it, her dragon form makes all her healing abilities better and her autoattacks will heal people, etc. Her damage seems all right, it's almost entirely focused on her E fireballs as her basic attack isn't great, her waveclear isn't awful, but she does seem pretty mana hungry especially when you start spamming fireballs.

Erdricks posted:Is Alex a buy? Y/N. After about 10 quick matches: She's got extremely high healing throughput, fairly good wave clear for a support, the bombardment ult is an ENORMOUS fight swing on a modest 90s cooldown(at level 10 it's worth like 750 damage and 1500 healing if you only hit one enemy and one ally with each bomb), and dragon form is such a huge game changer that it is basically a second ult. The tradeoff is that she brings functionally nothing to the team but a huge amount of healing; the closest things to utility she has are modest damage output and a decent slow that requires you to land two skill shots in a row on the same target and her knockback cone in dragon form(which replaces said nuke/slow). This lack of utility also opens her up to being dived, since she can do absolutely nothing about an aggressive back line diver like a Genji or a Sonya without significant peel besides ulting. Her vulnerability to dive is a double weakness, because her healing throughput drops massively if she takes significant damage. She definitely doesn't feel bad or weak and can easily solo support, though I feel like she's at her best with a secondary support to cover her weaknesses and let her focus on her high health talents that are otherwise hugely risky to pick(specifically the two Q talents, which are nuts).

Take my theorycrafting with a grain of salt but I wonder if she wouldn't be a good pick in a double warrior comp. A lot of potential peel and CC, and she does percentage based healing with her W and can have access to another percentage based heal at level 13.

gently caress getting more WoW characters, we are in dire need of more Diablo characters: Assassin (uses traps and decoys) Druid Mephisto Baal (huge form) Duriel (or at least a skin for Anub, maybe?) Belial (meh) Andariel (possible Kerrigan skin) Archbishop Lazarus Deckard Caine Izual Tal Rasha (probably possessed by Baal, with a regular skin alternate) Zoltan Khuul So many options. The argument against skins as being very different characters falls flat because Blizzard cares more about identifiability and silhouette, as evidenced by Widowmaker being nothing like Nova (same for Novazon), yet here we are. And the argument for having Baal be a skin of Azmo is wrong and bad because he's freaking Baal and Azmo should be a skin of his, if anything. But yeah, the three Prime Evils should be represented ingame, there's no excuse for not having them when you can shove loving Azmo in there.

Pictured: what this game needs Most of those guys are pretty forgettable, to be honest - I had to look up a few of them even though I've played all three games + expansions. Cain would be cool (and is relatively likely to be added, I think) but I wouldn't expect too many of the others, partially because Only 90s Kids Will Remember This Character

There aren't many notable Diablo characters left at this point so they kinda have to spread them out. Same for Starcraft.

At the rate they're adding overwatch characters, they're gonna run out of those pretty soon too. At which point they'll finally have to add the character everyone is waiting for, Kyle Blackthorne.

Samuro is there not because of his fame as a character, but because people wanted a blademaster in general.

Yeah the WC3 blademaster is/was memorable for a lot of folks even if "Samuro" the character was basically (or literally? Not sure) invented for hots

Blademaster is one of the coolest W3 units and is known as the best hero in the game (one of the randomly generated Blademaster names was Samuro)... unfortunately I don't think they really nailed his model/sounds in HotS though I actually think his ability design in general is neat. I'm more interested in really well designed/memorable character models (like Brightwing or the naga sea witch) making it in than lore important characters. Tyrael is important to the D2/D3 plot, and his model is amazing, so ofc he made it in early. Lazarus, Andariel, Mephisto, Mengsk, who cares (imo).
