I personally don't mind seeing adults dressed as kid characters so long as the cosplay doesn't needlessly incorporate fetish bullshit that pushes it into a super sexualized place. Here's the finished version of the stubby-armed space marine I posted:  The weapon isn't particularly large but it adds a lot more balance to the costume design.
