If Republicans want to elect someone who multiple witnesses have accused of sexual misconduct (on the record), let 'em. And then let the Senate investigate the claims. You retards condemning Franken's accuser should really listen to yourselves. It doesn't matter what circumstances make her story suspect -- the reason we are just now, in 2017, taking seriously the extent of harassment and sexual assault faced by women is because of this dynamic right here. Every story has an element than can be twisted to fit another agenda, e.g. to cast doubt. When the first woman who speaks out is instantly discredited, other women (if they exist) are not going to make the same mistake. Don't let the accuser's decision be a mistake. If she's full of poo poo, that will come out in the investigation. In the mean time, consider that other victims may exist, and are watching and debating what to do. If it's all a farce, Franken will be fine.

There's no way an ethics commission is gonna drop the hammer cause he fake groped a sleeping girl on camera and stuck his tongue down her throat when she didn't want it. That's gonna open up the rest of Washington to be purged and that would never happen, as much as it should.

loving this. Franken's done the needful so far and there's gonna be an investigation. There's no need to start sifting through the woman's background for the court of public inquiry. It's a lovely thing to do, discourages future victims from stepping forward and not one I'm gonna engage in no matter how tempting it may be. Franken did a lovely thing, regardless if he actually touched her or not. If it's a "false flag" the ethics committee will sort it out or barring that, his constituents, not people on the internet or a twitter thread.

That’s ultimately on the photographer and the unit’s SOP concerning RAW storage. If you have someone (like video editors) who consolidate and then delete later after they make a broll clip, zero chance of recovering the original. So yeah. You might get lucky because it’s such a high profile person but it’s really on the unit and the photographer.

Franken was a writer from SNL and a comedian in 2006. I would imagine even if you're just doing USO tour duty you would barely remember the guy.

Smiling Jack posted:ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha I mean the entire concept of "pressing charges" isn't a thing that exists anywhere in our legal or criminal justice system. It's a myth. That's not to say a victim can't decide to be proactive and push the cops, but they don't decide what happens with the case. And plenty of victims have been forced to testify against their wishes, it's part of why we have the whole witness protection program.
