I am so happy Leva is a tag title champ now. She's been a SHIMMER staple for over 6 years now. She deserves it. Delilah Doom is the perfect tag partner for her too. Really cool to see them win some gold. Shazza as Heart of SHIMMER champ is also super cool and she's defended the title against a really great list of women too. I like Savoy and she deserves the title, but kinda wish Mia Yim won the title this weekend instead, but I can't complain really.

If Stardom have any brains they'll pour all the money they saved by not hiring Emma into ads that just say "Do you like Kairi Sane in the WWE? Then you'll love her dressed as Arale-chan and losing at paper-scissors-rock."

When say Regeneration X was over enough back in the day to at least get a short run but SHIMMER justifiably was playing safe/short term with Allison's health. In general, in terms of what slots need to be filled on the SHIMMER roster Kevin Harvey/RISE's preferences/pushed talent kinda run counter to it. SHIMMER doesn't really need more heels or gimmicky babyfaces.

Doom is a fountain of charisma. Did anyone see what happened to Allison? She was pouring blood after hitting the apron but I was on the other side of the ring.

I wasn't on that side either, but I was talking to some people after the show and she hit at a weird angle where one of the ring supports were and split her head open. I feared for the worst when she popped up and tried to restart the match even though she could clearly barely stand, but she seemed to be fine (other than being covered in blood) at intermission. Funny that it happened against Shazza McKenzie who had a similar injury last November. It was a rough weekend for injuries in general. Kikyo, Courtney Rush and Hudson Envy all got hurt during the tapings. Kikyo dislocated her elbow and it was pretty nasty. A couple other notes from the show in case anyone is interested: -Tessa Blanchard was crying after her last match and waved goodbye to the crowd after she left, so I assume she actually did get signed for real too. -The people coming in from the Impact tapings had worked eight straight days by the end of the last show, so hats off to all of them. -Despite some pretty clear limitations, Aja Kong and Mia Yim worked what was probably the best match of the weekend. -I was only sort of familiar with Zoe Lucas coming into the weekend, and had only ever seen her work face, but she was awesome. She's like a tall, British Portia Perez. -Hikaru Shida should give classes on selling, because getting her knee dismantled by Mercedes Martinez was genuinely uncomfortable to watch. -The RISE show on Friday and SHIMMER on Saturday were both sold out, but there were 2/3 as many people at the Sunday show. The crowd was louder for Sunday though.

Unrelatedly, Rosemary doing a demon sit up to terrify some poser satanists was my favorite wrestling spot in ages.

RealFoxy posted:Can't wait to see the DVD in 2019 Unless it is part of the premium tier of the WWE Network next year. SHIMMER's coffers seemed pretty healthy coming into this weekend with the electronic billboards, flying in Joshis for the first time in a little while and new turnbuckles. I wonder if WWE cut the promotion a cheque even on one-off basis due to Prazak doing some consultancy work during the MYC and using SHIMMER footage on the bracketology special.

Looking ahead a little bit: https://twitter.com/AAWPro/status/930257720267169793 New Japan and ROH's UK partner Rev Pro are crowning their own Women's Champion. Beating ROH to the punch if a WOH title is actually ever happening! Rev Pro has the talent base in the UK and financial means to look elsewhere to deliver a cool tournament: https://twitter.com/RevProUK/status/930123736321347584 https://twitter.com/RevProUK/status/930138699064635392

On SHIMMER not being streamable who do you think is the biggest "loser" legacy/body of work wise? Anyone have anyone better than Portia Perez? At least with a Sara Del Rey you have her 12 Large tournament work on CHIKARA's service and bits and bobs elsewhere?

Also, Allysin Kay is badass. She seems to be cursed in SHIMMER though, because the last tapings, Nevaeh blew out her knee during her match and this time she got cut open on an exposed board on a ring apron. The blood got into her eyes so she couldn't even see. She said it healed quickly so she didn't even get stitches. I'll never understand how WWE passed on AK when she did her tryout. She'd be great in NXT. Her promos and charisma is second to none on the indies. https://twitter.com/Sienna/status/930507166875901953

Love it. Kagetsu's quickly become a favorite. Her match against Hana during the 2017 5-star GP is practically a microcosm of how Stardom won me over.

One thing that always surprises me about STARDOM is how quickly they'll build their roster up after seemingly losing their biggest stars. They'll lose their big stars every other year but build up someone just as exciting in just as little of time.
|
# ? Nov 20, 2017 05:54 |

Definitely. It almost feels wrong even saying they "bounce back" quickly after losing a major talent, because you barely notice the original drop. Kagetsu deserves a push like crazy, and it's really gratifying to see her get it after keeping an eye on her since blue gear/zebra tights times. I can't wait until Mayu's all healed up because I would gladly watch her and Kagetsu locked in eternal conflict until Zeus gets bored and turns them into constellations.

Mayu vs Kagetsu is probably my series of the year that doesn't include Okada. Those matches (and Oedo Tai in general really) are what sold me on Stardom. RIP Yoko Bito, she's great, but they'll have someone ready to take her spot. I'm assuming it's going to be Kyona or Hana.

Barring Asuka losing b/w now and the Women's Royal Rumble, she's the most likely person to win it, provided she's not already the champ by then. And that the match actually happens. I can see WWE going with Paige vs Asuka at Wrestlemania, with Asuka squashing Paige's henchpeople over and over in February.
