Imagine working on Kurt Busch's pit crew now that there's gonna be one less person for him to murder when the stop runs 0.5 seconds too slow.

kidcoelacanth posted:I think numbers on uniforms is pretty neat I'm fine with it, and it'll probably be used to help track over the wall count violations more than anything. Yeah, it's quite obvious what each person is doing, sure, but they largely do this already anyway so it's one more thing slapped on the blank space on the back. Though it really smells of "Rearranging the deck chairs".

As a NASCAR fan I will be happy to see a man wearing a shirt saying "Fuel man" while he is filling up a race car with fuel, to clear up any confusion I may have

They arent the first series to limit how many guys/gals you can bring to the track on a race weekend, and its a great way to cut some costs. They've also talked about getting rid of both of the tire carriers for years to limit the number of people exposed over the wall, and I think its a good idea too. They are in danger of the car count going off a cliff and they need to shore up the sides. Only way to do that in an environment of falling sponsorship is cost cutting.

kidcoelacanth posted:I think numbers on uniforms is pretty neat I've been waiting for it since teams started putting each crew member's name on the back of the firesuit, to be honest. It'd be a fairly harmless change if we weren't so adjusted to NASCAR making attempts to be more like the NFL as they have over the past 13 years, with each subsequent one more futile than the last. I think we need a captain and two alternates like in hockey to establish leadership on a 5-man pit crew next. Stick a big "C" on the front of the gasman's firesuit.

I'd be cool if the pit crew uniform numbers were strictly to get them some recognition. But we all know it's just to slap on more stupid loving penalties.
