yeah I eat rear end posted:I'm angry at the cute thread for informing me that something called "gunpla" exists. The Japanese alphabet isn't phonetic, so they don't really do acronyms much. Instead, they use lots of portmanteaus, thus Gundam plastic models becomes "gunpla." Different "genres" of models like ships vs cars vs planes involve different skillsets (though there's obviously overlap) and adopting the goofy Japanese term was easier than continually specifying "those no-glue-required kits made by Bandai that may or may not be giant cartoon robots but are otherwise engineered the same way no not Bandai's Macross line those are engineered more like regular scale models like tanks and poo poo."

So Pingu is very insistent about waking you up of a morning for food, but she doesn't really meow so instead her tactic is to get as close to your face as possible and purr as hard and she can. She does escalate tho, so if you ignore her enough she'll do this...

I spent Thanksgiving watching the post-Macy's dog show, and I must declare a love for for a particular breed: Schipperkes Look at this tiny wolf! Or, is it a flightless fruit bat?

I had a schipperke as a kid and they are indeed pretty awesome but people usually thought they looked more like a small black pig

FutonForensic posted:I spent Thanksgiving watching the post-Macy's dog show, and I must declare a love for for a particular breed: Schipperkes Schipperke are the best breed ever. Had one when i grew up, died when i was 15 and he was 16(!). And after some years me and my mother decided to get a new one (dad did not want a new dog but he now spoil him more than anyone.) and he is now 8 year old. Here are two pictures of Loke (the new one), one of him when he was young and found that the shoe rack is a good sleeping place, and a new one when he decided that he needed the bed more then i did. They are so stubborn its funny, they only do anything if they want it and ignore you otherwise. And not a lapdog, being carried is the worst thing in the world for Loke. Sniper Party posted:Apparently coming off anaesthesia is really uncomfortable for dogs. Mine was absolutely miserable and whining for the entire night after he was under for a short operation and he's an idiot terrier so he'll basically only whine if he's in massive pain or feels incredibly bad. Oh I didn't mean because of the anesthesia, that whole channel is full of that husky being a big baby whenever it does something it isn't supposed to and it's hilarious it's one of my favorite dog channels, the bathtub video is pretty great too

You can kind of see how it's related to Welsh. There are words and phrases that are almost the same but lots of times they're mutually pretty unintelligible. Something that is mutually intelligible is the word "corgi". From the word "cor" in Welsh, "kor" in Breton and "ci"in Welsh or "ki" in Breton meaning "dwarf dog" after some consonant mutations. I don't know here I read this but I read somewhere that the ancient Welsh believed that elves or something similar ("korriganed" in Breton which normally translates to elves in English) used to ride them into battle. Call me skeptical.
