Tasmanian Liberal senator Eric Abetz told Parliament the Smith bill would change the definition of marriage in a way he says Australians did not consent to.
Senator Abetz was a prominent No campaigner during the same-sex marriage postal survey.
He said the same-sex marriage bill also allowed intersex and people of non-binary gender to marry and that was not what Australians voted on.
"The bill therefore goes further than that which was approved by the Australian people and adopts the ideology of gender fluidity," Senator Abetz said.

Calling it an idea is giving him undue credit for literally just moving to the next page of the American Right Wing Fuckknuckle playbook.

I mean if gender fluidity is an illegitimate ideology then there's no such thing as non-binary people and since intersex people are still assigned one and only one of the binary genders then that means all adults can get married once this bill finally passes.

But if you're hurting so bad to have a class of have-nots that you're suddenly willing to acknowledge non-binary gender identities then your beliefs ain't poo poo.

...how does that work?
You can already put 'X' as gender on a passport, the government has been okay with gender fluidity doing that.

They gained less than PUP lost though, to the tune of +12.8% vs -17.5%.

Palmer United were more popular last time around than PHON are this time.

They're not just OK with it, the High Court found that non-specific gender was a thing back in 2014 and that governments had to recognise it.

So, like... if a reasonable banking royal commission that's not totally toothless happens and it digs poo poo up, I can't see how a Labor government would possibly be able to resist inevitable followup demands for a federal ICAC, right? There'd be overwhelming demand and resisting would be incredibly unpopular.

Hey Moona!
Slippery Tilde
anyone in SA and now Brisbane can skip the NBN altogether and get fixed wireless with Nuskope, right now they cap your speed at 30/5 but business can get up to 400/400

latency is slightly lower than adsl and they have a contention ratio of 10:1 instead of 100:1 or whatever TPG uses these days

In the interview with Burke on 9 at the moment he denies things went a far as claimed, so without further proof it is a case of he said she said. It will be interesting to see what is substantiated over the next few days to see where the cookie crumbles.

The claim by Burke that he has Aspergers he says has not been medically diagnosed. Honestly listening to him explain it was awkward as someone experienced in the area.

Those prices aren't bad actually, assuming they have the same pricing structure in brisbane as they do in Adelaide ($59 for 250gb; 30/5). I'm in the South Brisbane fibre area, and although the network is fine, it's become a massive shitshow and most of the ISPs that were offering plans have pulled out; it would be insanely expensive now. Luckily I'm grandfathered into a sweet plan with Exetel - 300gb; 30/1 speeds, only $34 a month. They'll be prising that one from my cold dead hands. If I had to sign up for a plan in my area today it would cost me closer to $100 for anything similar.

I agree he is on rocky ground right now. Burke is claiming it's just a witch hunt which on the face of it might have substance... but over the next few days I expect a bunch of those people to provide more detail to the media to solidify their claims and collaborate things. I'm personally willing to see all of the details get fleshed out before making my personal judgement.
