IT says that the modem is operating below their standards, and to chat with support, which I guess I will do.

Curses! I've been passively trying to sell the Speed6, a bit bored with it and it has a load of cosmetic issues. The other night a dude put up his for sale with a bad motor for $2K. I figured maybe for $1200 it would be worth it as a parts car. But then tonight he put it up for $500 and it's 3 hours away and GOD drat IT i just made a bunch of payments and am cash strapped for like 5 days and he won't hold it without cash down. We got a turkey from the local god-tier barbecue shop. They sold out their pre orders in five days around Halloween. Took another 45 minutes of waiting on Thanksgiving itself since they weren't quite warming up in the smokers as fast as expected, so it literally was straight from smoker to car to table to stuffing all of our faces. It was amazing. Hell, my kid wanted leftovers from it two nights in a row.

My wife has morning sickness and the turkey is the trigger. Still have a ton of it left, both breasts since neither of us like white meat. I am going to make some turkey fried rice tomorrow, maybe some turkey hash for breakfast. On the plus side I got to see an ultrasound today and the little guy has a normal nuchal fold, along with a normal panorama test so he’s got a good shot at being free from trisomy disorders.

So, I ordered a 200gb microsd card from Amazon on Thursday. It said it would be delivered Sunday. Sunday night, around 2200, it said it would be delivered today. Today, around 1900, I chatted with customer service just to check if it was still coming today, as I was going to put the kids down at 8 and didn't want a doorbell. The package didn't show "out for delivery," just "left service center in Phoenix." At 9, I got back on chat, and said to move the delivery to tomorrow, it is too late for today. Over the course of the last 40 minutes (just idly chatting with them while doing other online work) the following things happened (I got an email for each of them): The order was canceled. The order was un-canceled. A new order was placed with a $0 balance for ONE of the TWO items in the original order. I received a customer service email telling me to order one of the items from a third-party seller, then come back and ask for a refund of the difference. I received a "your item was lost in transit" email. I received a "your request to return the item was unsuccessful" email. They canceled my Prime membership. They re-instated my Prime membership, but for only one month (normally ends in January). They re-instated my Prime membership and extended it to February. They canceled auto-renewal on my Prime membership. Amazon (206 area code) tried to call my phone, but it was infinite hold music with no voiceover. I asked for none of this, and the chat agent was just a confused Indian fellow with long pauses. I'm going to bed, and I took screencaps of the process with the clock in the corner for later, because gently caress this.

Guessing this was recorded somewhere that you refused delivery or otherwise triggered a fraud detector, and then a script went nuclear on your account as random offshore contractors tried to stop it. This is also impossible to confirm, since no company will tell you about their fraud defection triggers. Good luck getting that all fixed!

Oh yeah, says I refused delivery without it ever going out for delivery, only after I started the second chat session.

Metal Geir Skogul posted:So, I ordered a 200gb microsd card from Amazon on Thursday. It said it would be delivered Sunday. As a (soon to be former) contractor for Amazon.... None of this surprises me in the least. I don't get how such a successful company is such a dumpster fire when it comes to their own technology (and customer service... good god their CS is absolute poo poo now). Their own delivery program is a loving mess IMO, mostly thanks to them trying to micromanage every loving detail, and having inconsistent policies from facility to facility (or hell even from day to day). They don't communicate policy changes to drivers at all, and drivers are literally on their own. Also, drivers aren't even supposed to attempt delivery after 8:59:59 (yes, to the second); if they even mark that they're returning everything else to the warehouse after that time, they get dinged for attempting to deliver too late.. for each order they have on them. (but yet they have shifts that run much later at times if the warehouse was particularly hosed that day.. and the drivers that grab, say, an 8-11pm shift, usually wind up getting fired the next time they run their late delivery audit). jeff@amazon.com is your best bet to get this un-hosed at this point. He won't personally respond, but it gets the attention of US-based Amazon employees that know they're dealing with someone that's pissed off, and he does read a lot of the poo poo that comes in to that address. randomidiot fucked around with this message at 07:52 on Nov 28, 2017 |

But the shipper is themselves, so idk why they act like it's out of their hands and they have no idea. If I have an issue with UPS or DHL or whatever, I can call them and they'll tell me where the package is, what truck it's on, and what's going on with it. It's a good thing Prime is so cheap.

Tomarse posted:The amazon delivery software must be fairly poo poo. Yesterday I got 3 prime deliveries off the same guy approx 15 minutes apart. Why didn't it tell him to do them all at once? It's total poo poo, and that's an incredibly common issue that comes up on the Facebook groups we (AMZL drivers) have. Someone that's been doing it for a bit will look at the map instead of blindly following the route given by the app, or remember they had more than 1 package for your address when they loaded/sorted their route, but the turnover is incredibly high. I do Prime Now instead of Logistics, so my routes tend to be, at most, 10 stops, but even with that short of a route, I frequently re-route myself - the app often has me going back and forth between neighborhoods or even cities. randomidiot fucked around with this message at 08:49 on Nov 28, 2017 |

I had a similar issue with stuff I'd ordered for US delivery. Never had an issue with Amazon UK. Though I did ask them to send a parcel to the post office for collection, which they sent by Royal Mail. But the post office wouldn't give me it without the reference, which wasn't in the "ready to collect" text they sent, even with ID. Now, the reference WAS noted against it on their My Orders page, but of course the post office is some kind of dead zone for reception...

At least they let you do that in the UK. In the US, you have no idea which carrier it's shipped with until it actually ships, and they basically tell you "tough poo poo" if you ask for a specific carrier. Ordinarily, this isn't a big deal. But when I lived in university housing... UPS and Fedex would deliver to my dorm address. USPS would not. UPS and Fedex initially could not deliver to my USPS address (which was a PO Box at the university-run post office). It was a total crapshoot as to whether or not I would get my order, until the university allowed UPS/Fedex/DHL to deliver to the university post office. Even when that happened... they kept typical post office hours. I could get access to my mailbox at any time between about 6am and 10pm, but if I had a package, I'd have to go between 8-5 (and it had to be delivered within those hours). Eventually the university started accepting UPS/Fedex/etc packages at their post office. I have no idea how they handle AMZL packages (AMZL didn't exist back then); I assume the driver winds up going to the dorm address, finds out they can't even get into the building unless it's the dorm I used to reside in (which was apartment-style, so no lobby to go through and you can just walk up to the door), and gives up. I still know my way around the campus pretty well, and know how deliveries are supposed to be handled, but since I'm not on the logistics (normal boxed orders, not same-day Prime Now orders) side of AMZL, I never wind up there (they're outside of the Prime Now delivery area). I know UPS/Fedex stuff was always left at the office for my dorm. Come to think of it, I've only had one delivery to a university while working Prime Now (one I don't know at all), and I wound up having to call the student and have them meet me outside of the dorm. That was nearly 2 years ago, I'm assuming they just send dorm orders via USPS/UPS/Fedex now (maybe...). I've heard a lot of bitching about military housing addresses (which are usually on a military base), mostly related to the fact that Amazon doesn't give any kind of uniform or identification to drivers (some drivers used to get a laminated badge w/lanyard that basically had their name and "AMAZON DELIVERY CONTRACTOR", with no photo) - basically unless that driver is military or ex-military, they're not getting on base. e: when I work Uber Eats in that area, I wind up on campus pretty often. So many people are shocked when I actually find them. randomidiot fucked around with this message at 09:34 on Nov 28, 2017 |
