Not a bad day! One sunk BB, one sunk cruiser.. How damaged are your own ships from the exchange and how many of them are going to be in dry dock for a long time from this? And two sunkAmerican BB's over a coule of days - not a bad way to start things off!

Katori is basically the fleet mascot now. 24 November 1943 Arriving to take part in the invasions of Tarawa and Makin, the US escort carrier Liscome Bay had armed and fueled aircraft spotted on her flight deck for her first ever combat mission when she was struck by a torpedo from the Japanese submarine I-175. The explosion detonated the jeep carrier's bomb magazine, engulfing the ship in a catastrophic explosion. Within minutes, she was gone, taking more than 600 men down with her, including Dorie Miller, hero of Pearl Harbor. Across the world, USAAF aircraft destroy the German torpedo boat TA-12 (ex-French Baliste), under repair at Toulon.

drat, these two Jills went right through the wall of flak and did their job in a most splendid way! Heores, no doubt...or war criminals, according to the other side. I have a question about this game; Are AA guns (from AAMGs to heavy guns) used against troops during ground combat like they were historically?

We skirmish with fleeing destroyers, confirming the death of the big ships. With everyone heading off to replenish or lick their wounds, it suddenly goes very quiet. We get some old kills, and the work of rebuilding out air wings begins. The damage to my air wings experience is not all that bad.

The combined naval battles in that one area over the course of a little more than a week have cost the Allies three light carriers, two escort carriers, and one (or more if we count the SoDaks) battleship as well as numerous heavy cruisers and destroyers. Even with the damage to your carrier wings that's a large blow to the Allies a short amount of time. Also, you might want to up your garrisons, losing even a minimal amount of VP each day from them will add up over time. zetamind2000 fucked around with this message at 05:53 on Nov 26, 2017 |

Where were the light carriers? I just remember the skirmishes with the CVE's which weren't confirmed kills. And some of these ships could just be heavily damaged and having fallen out given some of them were just hit by bombs rather than torpedoes.

I think the West Virginia is still afloat and you missed her. There should be twice that number of Fletchers in the group which means the other half is off guarding something. Probably the BB as she limps home.

25 November 1943 American interdiction of a Japanese reinforcement/withdrawal run to Buka in the northern Solomons results in the Battle of Cape St. George, the final surface engagement of the Solomons campaign. Three Japanese destroyers—Amagiri, Yugiri, and Uzuki—delivered 920 soldiers and embarked 700 aviation personnel from Buka's now-destroyed airfield for passage to Rabaul. They were escorted by two more destroyers, Onami and Makinami. American reconnaissance aircraft had spotted the convoy en route to Buka, and Arleigh Burke took five destroyers to intercept. Burke's force picked up the Japanese squadron on radar while remaining obscured by poor visibility. One division moved in to make a torpedo attack; the other provided cover. Both escorting destroyers were hit in the initial torpedo run, one sinking instantly and the other being finished off by the American covering division. Burke then pursued the three transport destroyers with three of his own ships. The transports split up and the Americans concentrated on Yugiri, which they sank with heavy loss of life.

Also suppose the really damaged ships from the Cruiser squadron that ran into the American BB's made it back to port okay, so if so that also means no major surface losses either from this week.

This is a nice start to the day. God sub! She returns again to put another torpedo into her prey. And enemy cruiser bombards Juliut. This is the prelude to another invasion. We take losses, but get hits on their ships as normal. This seems to be a much larger force. The 3rd Marine Division has landed, we may be in trouble now! Angered at the loss of all their carriers, they come at us like tigers. We do destroy an attacking unit though! It looks like the US is finally getting its act into gear in the island hopping campaign! We all knew this day was coming, but it's still scary to see!

Is it necessary to take a unit out of strategic move mode after it arrives, or does it do that automatically? Lol I think I can guess the answer

The real question is how deep in the menus is the button to move a unit out of strategic mode. Over under is 2.5 levels down. Also, great job Grey at taking control of the seas. Truly battleships (with air cover) are the future. How much oil do you have for those thirsty ships? CannonFodder fucked around with this message at 06:33 on Nov 27, 2017 |

We continue to punish their landing ships. They are using lots of small task forces, which makes for lots of reports like this and slow turn processing. Our troops hold the marines back much better today! I send the carriers out to make sure no big ships survive. The other force is nearly home, and get in a luck torp shot – I'm not sure it was worth the escort though. [img]https://lpix.org/2981963/6].jpg[/img] We are damaging a lot of enemy ships, but I'm not sure how many will actually sink! It's a point. A point is a point.

It looks like we are going to hold for now. I'm going to try and sneak another division in. Dammit, someone get me this guy! Another good day for the guns! I'll trade ships at this rate all war long!
