Surprised people care about the chest-only characters that much. I don't really know them that well so it's all whatever to me. I actually enjoy this sort of downtime to work on fleshing more things out.

I don't really care about the new characters outside of Blue Marvel and Nova, but I've got the roster at 6*, mastered and at least 17/17/17/17, with about 55 T2s. So new characters are kinda "my new content" for the next month outside of 8 new story levels. I'm not F2P by any means and will spend money if I know what I'm getting, I just hate gacha lootbox bullshit and how its worming its way into every game, and the timing for Netmarble is REALLY tone deaf on this decision. Like there could not be a worse time to shift over to lootboxes. I still need to see how much they cost, how many bios you get, and how many characters there are to muck up the pool. Notice they don't put the cost of these new boxes in the notes. It's gonna be something real dumb.

I'm not like going scorched earth over it because I don't think this is the future of the game or anything. Keke seems to like to try new things with how to acquire characters and then not really taking it past that group, so I feel like there's going to be this little speed bump and they never do this again.

They really couldn't have picked a worse time to try this. Even if the crates are pretty generous (big if), a lot of people are pretty riled up about loot crates and are opposed to them just on principle.

A lot of other gatcha games do it without issue but one of the big draws of Future Fight was that Netmarble didn't.

It feels like they're testing the waters; I mean, I can't imagine where were a ton of people waiting for Anti-Man, though Nova definitely has a b-lister sort of fanbase. But it doesn't really fit their moneymaking model, which seems to be mostly people getting subscriptions just to bump up their daily experience and putting up an endless variety of mini-paywalls to slow freebies like me down. In any case, it seems to clash with their existing monetization strategy and I'm sure somebody will drop $1000 or whatever to get a 6☆ Anti-Man, but it's weird and tacky, and I can't see it making dolphins into whales... at least not yet.

you know how you hook rats up to a pellet dispenser and sometimes they get a pellet and sometimes they dont and that makes the addicted to the gambling? and so in games you add rng elements to trigger those same brain problems. netmarble is doing that with good/bad patches to inception skinner box people

I just starked again 4 days ago. Bleah. I like collecting things and seeing the numbers go up. Paywall people I've always been pretty meh on in general but I understand the monster needs to eat. This one's a little too much, though. Only thing that could really make it okay is if there's a way to grind the chests without spending crystals -- make one the reward for doing all your daily challenges for a week or something. And even then they'd better have more than a handful of bios. If it's like 600 crystals for 64 bios then lol, just lol. My guess is 500 cystals for... hm. 320 bios? Seems too generous. I have a friend that is going to be terribly excited by Quasar, too. It'd be neat if they brought her back in the comic and actually had her do something. I'm gonna guess she's Hyperion tier in game though.

I would normally get a Stark Stash to save up for Christmas deals or do a bio sub to get 2099 to 420 and get Valk/Quasar, but I may hold off and see how keke responds to this.

I think in the grand scheme of things in won't be that big a deal. If they're in the random boxes I assume that means they work the same way the AForce does. You might not get lucky and grab one of the new characters, but you'll get 8 of their bios and you can use that on them. They'll get unlocked soon enough and then everyone who has tickets will get them up anyway. At least that's how I think I understand it. I'm disappointed because I don't have a ton of saved tickets to just waste on random characters I'm not familiar with, but you know, whatever. Its a game. Some stuff is hard and some stuff is easy. I'm a little sad we got this update instead of a Runaways one (just because those are characters I'm familiar with) to go with their Hulu show. But I'll probably wait for another update and a 3rd pay character and then get the 20 a day when I can grab Valkyrie, Quasar, and whoever comes next and then use the rest to get Agent Venom/2099 to 4/20.

You cannot get these from the free box - the free box already has everyone but paywall in it. Why would they do a separate box that works the same way but costs crystals? That would be dumb as gently caress. Basically if you want Nova or Anti-Man, you have to pay money to get a 1 in 100 chance at part of a character.

Okay, finally cleared out the new Shadowlands levels and finished the Spidey Quest Pack, so I'm trying to figure out how best to use these Mythic Costume tickets. I've got Thor - Ragnarok at Legendary, but am fine grinding out bios to naturally Mythic that one. I've got Loki - Ragnarok and Kid Kaiju, so those both totally make sense to get upgrades, but it's also tempting to wait for the next costume sale and pick up Hela's for an easy CTP for Cable. Thoughts? I know for sure I want those two ridiculous Loki cards, just trying to figure out whether it's better to Mythic the paywall character or get a guaranteed CTP.

Mea culpa. edit: Also in general game stuff I've got a new best in Shadowland at Floor 23 but I can't get past that because it threw like 4 villain floors in a row at me and I'm all out of effective ones. I still have Phoenix, Quicksilver, Cable, Wolverine, and a bunch of T2s available but none of them can do jack against the two robots. Remember all the fun of using those event tokens to get the crappy "premium" card but even though you rolled for it 35 times all you got was dimension rift cards you already have? Well now that event is always going on except it's for two of the heroes and it costs crystals and also the 1+1 crystal deal in the shop that's been there forever is gone now too

Well, Jean can no sweat auto clear all the new story missions up to the last one where I had to take control for the first time.  You get a celestial gear and a free 6* Blue Marvel for it but it really feels like it should have been these levels after the shield quests then Asgard.
