Al! posted:literally the only people who fit that bill are rich children whose parents and parents friends are funding their vanity app business It reminds me a lot of the trash "affordable housing" that NYC has. Where in order to qualify to buy you have to be making like <30k/yr or whatever, but you also happen to have millions of dollars of cash on hand. So for example, since Trump technically makes $0 a year from his job as President, he would qualify for NYC affordable housing. ate shit on live tv has issued a correction as of 20:52 on Dec 1, 2017 |

hillary clinton unironically pushed 'tax credits for student debt of entrepreneurs' at the same time she was criticizing bernie's tax plan of free public college for potentially being able to subsidize trump's kids (with the implication trump's kids aren't going to a private school) at the rate of incrementalism of hillary clinton's platform, you might've been able to get a small tax credit not indexed to cost of living for students at public community colleges in rural areas for STEM majors who are also working to qualify for the tax credit by the year 2096

(I'd consider that poor) If you are married, with zero children and make less then 20k, EITC doesn't affect you. If you are single with zero children and make less then 15K EITC doesn't affect you. There are certainly some people who are poor and EITC does affect them, but you know what would be even better? Additional Section 8 housing.

ate poo poo on live tv posted:If you are married and have one child and you are making less then 45K, EITC doesn't affect you. (I'd consider that poor) No, those are the maximum incomes you can earn to get the EITC. So you don't get it if you make more than 15K with no kids, 45K with one kid, etc. (So it basically affects a specific subset of the working poor; since you don't get it if you don't have any income either, I think.) I do agree we need way more Section 8 housing. (Or even better: mandate that rents must be tied to a max percentage of the tenant's income, subsidize all housing for low/no income people, and make discrimination on the basis of income illegal.)
