Eh not so much in Midnight Special, though that's not really his fault.

He was dope in Silence though.

His part in Midnight Special was small and underused, but he was pretty solid as an actor in said part.

There is absolutely no chance that Kylo Ren wasn't intentional. The entire point of the character is he wants to be Darth Vader but he actually is Anakin Skywalker. The movie is pretty careful about framing him as pathetic or laughable while still being dangerous. It's easily the most interesting part of the movie and a good way to death with the idea of emulating Darth Vader without just having Vader 2.0

I kind of want to know what happened to that one guy he started actually choking after he told Ren something about A GIRL. I mean, I'm sure the guy lived, Ren probably put him down and stared into the middle distance for a while after the scene ended.

Absolutely. The moments with all the subordinates who got choked by Vader or somehow escaped their doom by circumstance where already among the best parts of the old trilogy, Rogue One was merely an expansion of that. There needs to be more of that, I want to see Kafka stuck on the Death Star.

you know, the funny thing is that it came with a smaller x wing with semicircle engines because they couldnt make the regular engines at that size. that kinda made the x wings from the sequel series a lot less impressive for me

now that i look at it again im wondering if it was meant to be some sort of prototype x wing or something

Yeah, man, you had the Series Alpha one: regular size Action Fleet toy plus a mini one based on concept art. They also had a Y-wing, snowspeeder and shuttle (whose concept got used in Clone Wars as the one with the ball cockpit)

If there's any doubt about this, look at what Disney allowed Driver to do when he hosted on SNL and did that awesome Matt the Radar Technician/Undercover Boss poo poo.

I doubt it. Film classification boards freak out at that sort of thing. See Fury Road where a significant fraction of its R rating was due to Furiosa getting bloodied up a bit.

The MPAA is hilariously and upsettingly socially conservative. They seem to give out much higher ratings for women getting injured than they would for a similar event for men.

I flipped through a Rolling Stone at the dentist the other day for the first time in 10+ years, and it literally only contained 5 pages that had anything at all to do with music. 2 of those were the record reviews, which were apparently picked completely at random. :(

It's weird. May be just my toxic masculinity or whatever but I have a much stronger reaction when I see women injured than I do with men. But ratings shouldn't be based on how much something affects men's feels.

Also, the MPAA doesn't have any kind of real guidelines going on. Some things, like an erect dick, will always get something the "unrated death sentence" or sometimes NC-17, and there are some guidelines about swear words, but a whole lot of it is open to the interpretation of some literal randos who not only do not work in the film industry but also do not have any special knowledge or insight about film in general.

Go back and watch Henry and June (seriously, it's a fantastic film) and ask yourself how in the blue hell that, of all movies, got threatened with an X rating and led to the creation of the NC-17 rating? It has some extremely mild lesbian sex scenes, I've seen tons of R rated movies in the past 20 years that had much more graphic lesbian sex. Nowadays you have to be Blue is the Warmest Color to get an NC-17.

With violence they'll often let a lot of things go as long as they don't show blood.

Seriously the MPAA is complete clownshoes. Watch This Film Has Not Been Rated and despair.

Yeah that movie goes into detail how easy it is to get an R or NC-17 for sex or nudity, but I can’t think of a violent movie in ages that got an NC-17.

Funny story. I borrowed my friend's copy of This Film is Not Yet Rated to watch when I was in high school. My parents saw it lying around, looked at the cover, and idiotically thought it was porn, so they confiscated it and threw it away. Luckily my friend wasn't mad.
