What I like about this is that most of them are the same elderly regulars of the comic, and not teens or “millennials” as it would’ve been in any other comic ever.

Traditionally, mochi was made from whole rice, in a labor-intensive process. The traditional mochi-pounding ceremony in Japan is mochitsuki:
  1. Polished glutinous rice is soaked overnight and steamed.
  2. The steamed rice is mashed and pounded with wooden mallets (kine) in a traditional mortar (usu).[9] The work involves two people, one pounding and the other turning and wetting the substance [10] the mochi.[11] They must keep a steady rhythm or they may accidentally injure each other with the heavy kine.
  3. The sticky mass can be eaten immediately or formed into various shapes (usually a sphere or cube).[10]

Yep, we're almost at the end of the book, although there are some leftover strips on Q-rais's blog. I'll probably go slower on those.

Yeah, this whole spy thing they’ve been doing ever since Ces took over really sucks.

I mean, I know this existed in the comic with the old writer, but we got like a couple entertaining weeks with Ces where all the characters’ lives fell apart, then the kidnapping story and spy stuff took over the whole strip ever since.

You know, I suspect it might not. There's been a trend in the serial strips lately, I think, to not be all pat and comfortable. Even loving Luann has, over the past week or so, made a point that the strip's ostensible protagonist is sort of insensitive and lovely. And I've gotten a huge kick out of the turns in Judge Parker, of all the things in the world.

So, yeah, I would not be at all surprised if the point of this storyline was that Mister Advice Column threw away something good.
