I saw one on YouTube today during lunch at work (since no adblocker installed). It was a comically obvious bit of empty propaganda.

It's a pointless bit of propaganda because unless you work for a bank they're just those fuckers that:

- take out hundreds/thousands a month for mortgage
- want you to pay back that credit card debt
- are never open
- charge fees despite being never open
- won't give you that loan for a sweet new car/laptop/boat

and then when you work for a bank, your view of customers is utterly distorted by seeing the worst of the worst on a regular basis, with utterly ludicrous demands that the bank couldn't do even if they wanted to

poo poo these days if i get someone who's even remotely nice to me, I drop so many fees so fast that technically the only things they're paying for are cost to the bank.

The customers?

well, I can only speak abstractly here but my team are often the last "normal" team they see before we send them off to high risk collections, so if they're in my spot, there's a higher than average chance that they're in financial distress and extremely hostile to anyone from the bank.

Usually they've come to our spot because they're selling a house, or they want us to agree to do something that's a negative to the bank. sometimes we agree to it, sometimes we , depends on what they're aiming for.

Man you should read up on more of the history most of Australia never talks about. It gets your blood boiling. I didn't know one iota of it until I did some reading as an adult.

I'll get you started: the wage theft topic as it pertains to indigenous Australians. It gets worse as you consider the inter generational impact and lost future opportunities for their families that carries on to this day.

When I was at uni (20 years ago) I actually minored in Aboriginal Studies. I still remember one of my units was about Aboriginals and the law, where we learnt about every single law ever passed in WA covering Aboriginals that included things like removal of children, controlling where they worked, what they got paid, how they got paid, how they could obtain permission to marry, curfews, restrictions on being in public places, etc etc. The treatment of Aboriginals in Australian society has always been horrific and the massive systemic disadvantage they suffer will probably always be thrown in the “too hard” basket by politicians.

There definitely is a real lack of educational focus on the history of Aboriginal people pre and post-settlement (or at least there was when I was at school). I did history as one of my year 12 subjects and I learnt all about Europe during WWI and WWII and the US/USSR Cold War, but not a thing about Australian history. I only know a little about Aboriginal society/culture/history because I went out of my way to learn about it at uni.

I think you'll find that teaching that is a betrayal of our glorious British heritage. Why would we teach kids about that stuff that happened all those decades ago when we could instead teach them about the 19th century monarchy?

There's a general lack of education with the flaws in Australian society.
I took a "Contemporary Issues" class in year 12, and we discussed American Immigration but not Australian Immigration.

We got a pro-active letter from a big-4 saying they audited our loan or something and are giving us a better rate.

I'm guessing they knew one way or another a commission was going to happen, and now they're cleaning up house - potentially in case of Labour changing the terms but also presumably targeting the terms they have negotiated to be included.
