I dont think so, if you look at C3PO and R2D2s comedic relationship in the OT they are very in line with Taika's kiwi sense of humor. A bunch of dry dialogue about ones lot in life etc. Korg and the bug were basically alien c3p0 and R2 in Thor 3.

If they got rid of Lord and Miller for their approach, they'd do the same to Waititi. Read up on Ragnarok and he was big on having the actors improvise and disregard the script entirely. It's kind of why people love Thor now because the character is gone, what you get is Hemsworth's off-the-cuff quips. It seems like Disney is exerting a much tighter control on Star Wars.

Lord and Miller pissed off Kasden for going off his script and he has a lot of pull in Lucasfilm and apparently the titular young han solo was not benefiting from their direction. Is Taika going to be shooting a Kasden script? They let Rian Johnson do his own thing and then gave him his own trilogy. I think they could work with someone who is familiar to the company AND successful putting a twist on an existing franchise. Im not saying they arent controlling or it would work out perfectly, but honestly I dont think what happened to L&M is even 50/50 to happen to Taika. edit: and again I think the type of humor that Taika brings is much different from L&M's brand of comedy. A Taika droid focused solo film would be perfect imo

Also, he apparently came across the Jedi Temple in flames, knowing the betrayal "came from within", because only members of the Order knew of it's location. Which contradicts the whole, "Luke destroyed the temple while defending himself". There are more contradictions, but I won't keep going into them. so let's get this straight , the universe between ROTJ and force awakens: empire is beaten, some big rear end fight over jakku, New Republic is created, all the bad imperial guys retreat to unknown regions twenty years pass and the new republic has already completely loving failed, the empire is now bigger and badder than ever, and upon their first attack everyone else in the republic (who apparently have no military at all) just flat out surrenders because they liked being under the empire better than under the new republic anyways nice
