The Republicans don't seem to care about morality because they are right and all that matters is winning & screwing over the liberals. And when you're fighting someone who is not playing by "the rules" and using scorched earth ratfuck tactics, unless you play by those same rules (thereby corrupting yourself), you will lose. People don't support losers in elections. Maybe there's a middle way, maybe Franken should have confessed for getting grabby, made the appropriate sounds & been investigated for ethical violations; maybe we should have had some space in our society for some sort of redemption arc for sexual harassment, but not in this moment in history. The #MeToo movement is very powerful atm and I'm afraid that opportunists and false claims, like the Duke Lacrosse case or that Rolling Stone fraternity rape story, will be repeated forcing survivors to be disbelieved anew. idk, is it better to be a dead moral person or a person with dead morals? page snape:

That said, I don't think the 7 or 8 women or whatever we're up to now are lying. And, you're probably right to point it out as insincere. Frankly it is entirely likely that some or all of these things did happen and he should have stepped down weeks ago, but now the Democrats are out a ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee and Donald Trump is still president, our tax & social welfare system is about to be blown apart, the government is on the verge of shutdown & we're facing the non-zero chance of thermonuclear war. Not a great time to have a good warrior out of the fight. idk, I guess I'm feeling pensive about this because the Democrats have this tendency to get drawn down by ideological glue traps of their own devising, like they help themselves get played by the Republicans.
