What "the opportunity to purchase the team" means isn't clear, and it hasn't been tested in court. Would be awesome if it worked or made things difficult for Precourt though (and then every other state subsequently passed the same law).

No matter the outcome it's going to be interesting if it gets that far. MLS will likely try to use the single entity argument, so I'm curious if that will end up backfiring on them either then or in the future. If it gets to the courts, MLS has a lot more to lose than the city and state do, so it wouldn't shock me to see them not try tempting fate.

The thought had crossed my mind that something like that could be a potential outcome even if it's a longshot. If they really want to argue single entity to the end, I could see someone trying.

There was a famous rumor that the city of Baltimore was going to seize the Colts by eminent domain right when they moved out of town overnight.

And it looks like TAM has been increased to $4.0m for 2018 and 2019. The base $1.2m is paid by the league, and teams can pay an additional $2.8m out of their own pockets.

Seriously I feel like we’re being gaslighted here. Crew Stadium is a couple miles from downtown Columbus. Columbus has a large sprawling metro area, and Crew Stadium is firmly in the center of it.
