My guess is he'll be a witch hunter no matter what class you pick, it's just a question of the methods he chooses to employ, and I would be astonished if one of those classes wasn't very similar to V1 Saltz. Every character appears to have a Fallen, Neutral (Vermintide 1) and Righteous version. Bardin gets Slayer, Veteran Ranger and Ironbreaker. Sienna gets Unchained, Pyromancer and Battle Wizard. Kruber gets <unknown>, (very likely) State Trooper and Foot Knight. Saltzpyre gets Bounty Hunter, (very likely) Witch Hunter and <unknown>. The Elf gets Khainite Assassin, (very likely) Waystalker and <unknown>. (but probably some high-elf flavoured career) ZearothK fucked around with this message at 02:38 on Dec 7, 2017 |

Just got this for free on Xbox One off Games for Gold, and holy poo poo people are bad at this. The worst was this group that just wiped on Black Powder Easy before dropping down into the main area; one guy fell off the dock, another fell while trying to save him, then the third fell while trying to save THEM, then I got pinned by a gutterunner.

Whilst we have resolved the technical difficulties which led to the last delay of DOTR last week - we're still, unfortunately, behind schedule for a solid release this week. With the server issues that haunted us last weekend and the technical faiures in the days that preceeded, we're playing a game of catch-up and cannot deliver the latest DLC to you just yet. We truly do understand the frustration this may cause. This thread will be updated tomorrow (7 DEC) with a window in which you can hold us to. Pinky promise. Swear on me Nan. === UPDATE: 07 DEC 2017 === I swore on me Nan! Let me break it down. As mentioned we had a failure in our tools which led to the original delay. This failure simply stopped us creating a new build containing fixes, tweaks and polish with the feedback from beta and preview releases you might have seen on streams. So, we could have delivered the build some have seen already - we could have shipped that older version to fulfill our commitment - but you all deserve better. A build with improvements. A build that captures the feedback we received. And we're truly keen to deliver the DLC in a state that were happy with. The build we had was not that build and as such we wanted to hold off. We are confident that on Monday we'll be able to rebuild the DLC with the improvements we've been working on. With all that in mind, were looking to deliver next week, the week ending the 15th. This should allow us time to rebuild the DLC and assign time to test it internally, and then deliver it to those who have pre-ordered V2 as well as those who are just keen to play more Vermintide content. We read all your comments here and on Reddit and social media and we know we've dropped the ball here more than once. That does indeed suck. Don't think it doesn't make us just as sad as you - it really does. We feel truly privileged to have such dedicated fans, and reading the disappointment really shows how invested you are in Vermintide and it's sequel and that is truly humbling. We have your back, ladies and gents. Together to the end.

Pretty new to vermantide, how are you all managing your upgrades between heroes? Do you just focus on one character or do you try and build up the gear on all of them over time? I havent really settled on a "main" and actually prefer filling whatever role is open in a group, bit there are a few i enjoy playing more than others if i have to choose.

One of the nice things about Vermintide is that roles are pretty fluid and I'd say they basically come down to 'blocker', 'skirmisher', 'multi-target specialist' and 'single-target specialist' with a fair amount of overlap between any two of them based on your ranged/melee setup. For me, variety has always been more important than quality so I just sort of sat on all of my weapons until I had a stupid number of them and slagged them all down and shoved them at Victor. I now have at least one orange version of all of his weapons. If you're switching up characters a lot you're probably better off burning your weapons down all that much. If you can swing it, playing on Nightmare will get you a pretty okay collection of weapons going pretty quickly.

Characters are just pools of weapons. They are identical to one another outside of what they can equip. "Maining" one is restricting yourself to a subset of the weapons in the game for no reason. If there's particular weapons you want then you can use the purple class trinkets to slant your drops toward them, but that's about as far as it goes. Focus on weapons and just treat the class trinkets as a way to narrow your results down to what you want. Depending on how the careers work, this could entirely change in vermintide 2

For the longest time I just used a green rapier for Saltzpyre because it was loads of fun, I'd say just find a weapon that you like and stick with that till you get bored, then switch to one of the cool high tier orange weapons you unlocked on the way

One of the reasons I'm really good with the rapier is because I had to use a white one on Nightmare for a long time until I got a better one.

What am I meant to do with the rapier? Go for quick slashes and headshots or spam the quick heavy attack? It seems definitely good but the two handed sword seems... better?

Use the rapier to kill all the rats it's quite simple and easy.

I've gotten so used to playing Saltzpyre with the rapier and brace of pistols in my group that it is a serious struggle to play anything else. The rapier's speed with both regular and charged attacks makes it a flexible weapon, I find it's best for cutting down the edges of a pack while your two-hander and/or sword-and-board players do crowd control. It's a great weapon for dueling Storm Vermin, the charge attack has good reach and it's easy to aim for headshots to dispose of them quickly. And yes, a speed potion plus brace of pistols is a glorious, glorious thing for melting Roger or a Storm Vermin patrol. You can save a run with that combo.

maev posted:What am I meant to do with the rapier? Go for quick slashes and headshots or spam the quick heavy attack? It seems definitely good but the two handed sword seems... better? The rapier is a great all-category weapon. Hatchet pierces armor and does solid damage but is limited by the fact it only ever hits one target. 2-H is great and hits all the rats but is slow and required a good rhythm to use properly. Rapier is a great compromise. It only hits 2 (or maybe 3? I forget) rats per hit but swings so fast you stun lock big groups, if you can juggle them. It's definitely ace at killing rats, but I actually think of it as a skirmishing/defensive weapon. Between the speed/stun thing I mentioned and the fact that you can move at nearly full speed while blocking with it means you should never find yourself in a situation where you're being straight owned by clanrats. It's only real weakness (as with most weapons, really) is trying to juggle a crowd and a storm vermin at the same time. It's arguably okay at this situation since you can charge attack so fast you can almost treat it as an armor piercing weapon but I find it to be the hardest to deal with. Short version: run fast, block constantly, swing your sword most of the time, headshot/stab for specials or just when you're feeling saucy. Also learn how to dodge.

maev posted:What am I meant to do with the rapier? Go for quick slashes and headshots or spam the quick heavy attack? It seems definitely good but the two handed sword seems... better? It also depends on the mission type you are doing. If you are fighting lots of clanrats, rapier is the best. If you are fighting more Stormvermin, you may be better off with the hatchet.

With the rapier, the key is that it isn't really bad against anything, especially once you get good at aiming for the head with the slashes. It deals with hordes, the heavy attack is great for fencing stormvermin and heavy targets (and the light attack hurts them like hell if you get a headshot) and it's quick and easy to use. I prefer the falchion overall, but the rapier's one of the best general purpose weapons in the game.

The new maps are the best they've made since Karak Azgaraz. I joined on someone who has it, I don't own the DLC, but it's worth playing. If Vermintide 2 has at least half of what they did with some showmanship on the 2nd map then it can get itself on people's maps.
