All of the depth being added to the game world itself is the sort of thing the series has been missing, and all things considered, it doesn't seem to detract from the staple gameplay.

Slam dunking Diablos with a hammer feels great but I keep accidentally sliding in zone 8(?) of the desert. Don't get me wrong, sliding attacks are great when you're set up for them, but when you're just trying to adjust your positioning while charging...

This little spiral blade attack they added for SnS is really nice repositioning. I'm starting to wonder if the standing upward slash is really the best opener now. Think it still is cause the charged attack buffs are huge. Not a fan of the new charging forward attack though.

PC gaming in Japan is bigger than people think but not big enough to develop PS4 XB1 PC at the same time, as PC development is its own nightmare with certification drivers online integrity and DRM.

Most people in Japan don't own computers at home and many never even touch a real PC until they enter the workforce. Plus what PC gaming that does exist is limited to dating sims and porn games so it has that stigma attached to it.

I like coop games and this game seems that could work with strangers in coop.

How long is the lifespan on these games typically, as far as finding multiplayer games goes? I figure the answer might be "nobody knows" since it's the first game on this generation of consoles, but I'm just curious. It still feels fun as hell solo but it kinda seems like a Souls game where loving around with other random people can breathe new life into things.

Historically, precisely one month for launch zeitgeist and then after that most of the population is skewed heavily towards people overgeared for most content you'd want to run at not-endgame (though still a decent flow of new/midgame players to join with). MH:W may have more legs if they push it well enough, but it's hard to gauge.

At a minimum the community will remain lively until Capcom releases a new version (at least on PC/PS4, Xbone we will have to see how many people pick it up). Both Gen and 4U are still going pretty strong on 3DS and I wouldn't be surprised if you can't still find some 3U hunts on WiiU (although that had a much much smaller install-base than 3DS). People play these games for a LONG time. I'm probably around 5-6k hours for the series as a whole and while I'm a MH fanatic there's people with MUCH more playtime than me.

Everything is fun. Without fighting camera I'm finding some weapons feel really simple. Of course after a while I will be intuitively doing upcut strikes or side stuff based on the split second situation. Unless it's dual blades. Then I will buttonmash because I have no idea which combo does more damage.

Those hunting horn changes are bonkers. I can't wait to take it out and play support for my newbie friends. (then secretly carry them because nobody expects a support weapon to be a loving monster in its own right) I haven't tried, can you queue up all your songs and throw out all your buffs at once or is there a limit to how many you can have in queue? Also come to think of it, does the queue expire or can you have everything prepared well in advance so you can have a full refresh ready to go? vvv: I kinda assumed the extra time spent on the PC port was partly to put in measures against that sort of thing. Not that it prevented people from running around in MH4U with absurd talismans and stuff. Meldonox fucked around with this message at 03:10 on Dec 11, 2017 |

Bombadilillo posted:Couldn't beat the expert with bow. Ran out a time. Felt like I was kicking it constantly. Maybe I'm missing something. The time limit is just really extreme on this demo, I killed him with switch axe and heavy bowgun and probably had 1 minute or less on the clock both times. Taking the time to do anything like sharpen or heal when the monster wasn't around was painful and I didn't feel like I could experiment with any of the new stuff. I actually had a hard time enjoying a lot of it for that reason, I'm looking forward to freeplay and 50 minute quests again when the final version comes out

I killed him in 16ish with switch axe first try. Then played with a bunch of weapons and all the guns and ran out of time with the bow. He was limping. Went back to switch axe and beat him in 12. Don't know if switch axe is just that good. Or if it's just that it was my main for always. I noticed the demo default me to it. They just wanna show of that phial injection finisher. Neo_Crimson posted:Were you using coatings fully, and keeping within critical distance? I was using coatings. But I doubt I was at the right distance.
