Good as new.
Finally beat Re;Birth 3 last night after playing it off and on since 2015. Man, I have to say that one was a huge chore to complete and is most definitely the worst Neptunia game. It just felt like nothing was really happening and then all of sudden BIG BAD GUY in the final chapter. They could have done so much more with Atari and the game crash.

I dunno, the game just felt like it took way too long for anything of importance to happen, and when the plot finally happened (in the last chapter) the game was over. Hell, there's a more serious/urgent villain in the post game with the whole mobile games thing (but that too is finished fairly quickly).

Most of the game was waiting for Plutia to finish talking and people being scared of Plutia. That joke kind of wore thin. And all of the little kids was just weird. Peashy, little Compa, little IF, and Plutia - just too many annoying little kid voices.

It's weird. I don't even feel like I really beat the game; it was just so anti-climactic. But the game assures me, both with the ability to start a new game + and the fact that I got a True Ending achievement, that I have indeed completed the game.

The only good thing about finally finishing it (besides not having to play it anymore) is that I get where "big" Neptune came from and Croire. I actually finished VII before finishing Re;Birth 3, so I had no idea who Croire was in VII.

Now I guess I'll replay VII since 4GO still hasn't come out on PC yet.

Try to bomb a time as soon as possible but only if it's one of them, not like, 5, going to eat it. The sooner you do that, the sooner you can open the loop mechanic with as little collateral as possible against you.

I say this as the dude who bombed 6 at once. Oops.

Every time they add a floor to Joypolis, the coins and ball reset on the previous floors. Not knowing this can result in trophies you can't get until New Game+.

Speaking of coins, is there anything in the game that makes easier to find them. I spent like an hour looking through the Tetris dungeon and I'm still missing coins.

Also, is there a trick to beat Neptune on the second visit to Saturn's Era? My party is on its 30s and every attack either did 0 damage or missed and yet she moped the floor with me.

Fully equipped, use Atk buffs, Fever Mode, two Dreamcasts, EX attacks.

Omega Quintet just released on Steam. Had no idea this was coming, and if I had I wouldn't have bought it on sale for PS4 two months ago. It's currently -40% off for $17.99.

As someone who preordered that game at full price on PS4 and bought it digitally for $3 on a super sale, I think anything less than $20 is a fine price if you have never played it before, don't have better RPGs on your backlog, and have the patience for Idea Factory system mechanic bullshit. The game is clearly a tech demo for Nep V2 and suffers from some very annoying grinds if you want the True Ending. It's cute and has a very very obscure Nep reference in it, though.

In the Promotional Video System, there's a dance move that's just this extremely goofy-looking gallop. It is a move used in the dance for Afilia Saga's music video of the Neptunia anime ending theme. I believe the name of the move has "Afilia" in it, and I think the group's members were the mocap actors for Omega Quintet.

Ive had Omega Quintet on my PS4 for a while now but never finished it (stopped playing right after you get the last party member I think). Wonder if I would have an easier time finishing it if I had it on Steam instead. I didnt think it was a bad game or anything either, I just got distracted with other better games and then kinda forgot I had it.

I need something to help pass time until 4GO hits steam anyway.

4GO is great I got like a 2500 hit combo because the bosses are real stupid and bad.

Apparently Neptune will be appearing in a Chinese knockoff of Kancolle called Azur Lane. Looks like the same idea but without the uncomfortable realization you're trying to win WWII for the Japanese.

Dovetails nicely into 4GO revealing that Noire plays Kancolle enough to pull Uni into the hobby as well.

I hope the next Neptunia game has a special move that gives Neptune that shipgirl firepower. Or at least a reference to ship girls.

I think VIIR also peppers in some new cutscenes here and there, along with reworking the interface and combat.

Is the series particularly popular in China or is the new boat women mobile game just really big right now?

Azur Lane's popularity is huge -- like, already bigger than Kancolle by some measures, even in Japan.

Yeah, the entire battle system has been redesigned, and the engine is different. There are also some new cutscenes that replace some of the VN-style scenes.

The new mechanics feel a lot like a mixture of the interesting parts of OG Nep 1 and V2. Your weapons decide what kind of attacks you can do (one might offer Rush->Power->Rush, another might offer Break->Rush->Power, etc.), and you can build whatever combos you want from your entire selection of attacks (given you have the AP that turn), which are now unlocked with a skill point system. Items can now be "upgraded" to offer improved effects or AOE range increases. Everyone now has some cool personal skills too, like settings for any character with HDD to restore HP or SP upon de-transforming. It mixes up the action and makes it actually feel like a game that requires effort.

Even the DLC weapons in the JP version, which were just 4GO weapons, didn't let you completely steamroll the game, so I had to put in some thought. It's good, and I look forward to the LE being in my hands.

I steamrolled through Re;Birth 1 and 2 and loved them, but then played a few hours of 3, got distracted, told myself I'd come back to it, and never did. I've got VII waiting in the wings but I keep telling myself I should finish Re;Birth 3 before moving on, but I went back to it for a few minutes today it felt so uninspiring. Just skip forward? Anyone else feel like Re;Birth 3 wasn't as fun as the first two?
