Don’t rape or sexually assault anyone. Shave really good before you go to boot. You may get to use Facebook once or twice so make sure your password is something you can remember. Don’t buy any of the division gear. You will be embarrassed to wear it once you get out. You will never see 98% of those people again. Try not to get too angry with anyone. It’s not worth it.

As a CTI I ended up being stationed with two of the guys in my boot camp div for my entire 6 year contract. Likely? gently caress no. But you'll hang on to or build a base of support where you can. Keep your head down, don't volunteer for poo poo, don't say anything. The late-night standup poo poo where a bunch of guys try to soliloquize about what the division needs to do to improve after the RDCs shouted about how bad you are? Ignore em and sleep. Once again, super don't volunteer for anything, especially early on. It only makes you a target for later grief. Getting on ship staff after week 4 or 5 is fairly chill though. I used it as an excuse to return to the compartment late a bunch of times to avoid division bullshit. Quick edit: Really the whole thing is about makin you feel afraid of stuff. It's all a load of crap. Eat, sleep, walk around, follow simple instructions, and you'll look back on it as some of the easiest time in. It'll drag a bit more than usual since you're there during holidays, which kinda sucks, but you'll have some easier holiday routine to make up for it. Marine boot camp is a little different but one thing I took away from my time was to keep it in my head that a lot of the times the stupid games we played were rigged against us and there was no real way we could win. We were supposed to fail and it's all designed to stress you out. Try to accomplish the things you can but don't lose any sleep over messing things up or getting told what a piece of poo poo fuckup you guys are.

Lurker here: As someone who went to Orlando for boot camp back in the day, who the gently caress would got to Great Lakes in Dec? Give me drilling in our peacoats in 80 degree weather over snow and poo poo all day. And yes, went in as Nuke, played dumb in A school and managed to get sent to OS school in Dam Neck instead. Kept E-3 to boot, but was the only one with red stripes in class.

Could you point out on a map where exactly you remember living and going (landmarks, paths, etc) when you were at boot camp? I live pretty close to where it used to be and I’m curious which areas and buildings are still original. I sometimes walk around Lake Baldwin and I feel like that would have been prime real estate for running recruits.

Going by my super hazy memories: 1. USS Bluejacket 2. Barracks row 3. Nuke barracks 4. Nuke A school 5. Nuke chow hall, credit union Baldwin park was the 2 big concrete pads we called the grinder. Also where all ceremonies and graduations were. Area 3 might have been bigger. Here's a good comparison. This only shows the rtc part though. Not the nuke area. I was there in '88. http://usscanopus.homestead.com/rtc1.html Meydey fucked around with this message at 19:25 on Dec 13, 2017 |

Any nerds have NAVADMINS regarding NECC commands and the new uniforms? We're trying to get in black and white a defense for not having to replace the tan fleece we're all issued/wearing. Otherwise, we all get to fall in line and that will suck nuts because no more frog shirts on mission and all will suck.

It’s still command by command no? My unit just OKed tan boots instead of black so yeah that’s not normal.

Sort of. Tan fleece isn't authorized for anything but OCONUS wear anymore as of 01 October turns out. Same for Frog shirts and booney caps.
