Huge spike in early Hammer winrate with the buffs. Play style is still annoying and dumb, but now just has enough damage/health to win anyway?

One of my placements last night (before they announced the reset) I had an enemy team draft AA hero after AA hero against Johanna, Cassia, and Li Li. None of them did more than 20k hero damage in a towers of doom blowout. I'll miss placement matches like that.

I hope the stealth changes stick. It forces people to actually play the characters correctly, rather than allowing them to just use "invisibility" as a crutch against bad players and then constantly eating poo poo against good players. I'm a bit disappointed by how many people are down on the changes and complaining about it, claiming that there's no point to stealth anymore, when there's actually Zero mechanical difference. It's really weird how they never ran into the issue of actually being perfectly visible before now, but I guess that's the crux of the issue. I'm not sure whether Samuro is good yet, but I like that they've made his design a bit more consistent. Rather than having the difficulty of his gameplay determined entirely by whether or not you take the stupidly simplistic ultimate or the super high skill-level c omplicated one they just integrate part of Illusion Masters design into the characters base kit. It's spretty nice. Good patch.

Shout out to the Malth who did about 7k damage because "the other team was full of squishes". This included a Lost Vikings, who didn't lane at all and went around as a pack. At about 16 minutes he finally just left the game and the AI literally did more work the rest of the game than the real player did the whole time. Like I know his whole gimmick is that he's a tank buster but can't he still put out a ton of damage anyway?? edit: Also I killed a Hanzo SO many times last game as Murky with March of the Murlocs because by the time the Hanzo would realize what was happening and vault over a wall, it was too late. His health bar had no chance after that. Eat poo poo in this game too Hanzo Macaluso fucked around with this message at 22:34 on Dec 14, 2017 |

The best part of playing Hanzo in Overwatch is when he respawns and says "I am not deterred!" but I usually hear "I am not a turd!" as he tries to defend himself from chat making GBS threads on him.

You want to do a lot of the DOT poke and know when to dive and finish it, and how to live during team fights to keep the DOT up there too.

Been playing some Hanzo. He seems pretty strong to me. I normally go the Storm Bow build, which does heaps of damage without really putting you in danger. Once you get the 16 talent Flawless Technique you can basic attack, storm bow, basic attack to do an insane amount of damage. Scatter Arrow build seems good but it is so hard to use.

I like the build mentioned here, which is a mix of storm bow and scatter arrow. You use scatter to poke and explore places you don't have visibility (so you can save your sonics), and storm for long-range and big hits. I could be convinced to take Flawless Technique at 16 instead of Piercing Arrows, but having scatters pierce is really nice against deathballs or when you're fighting in a minion pack. Admittedly, I have not noticed many times where storm bow piercing has been much of a thing. Also I want to try Dragonstrike but Dragon's Arrow is hard to beat. Also also, no level 4 talent matches Explosive Arrows. I expect that talent to get some nerfs. Edit: Ninja Assassin at 13 loving owns. Newbie diary: Day...two weeks? Got Artanis to 5 today. So far, I am not sure he is one of my favorites. It is possible I just don't know how to play him. I've been doing a twin blades build, which feels like it comes together around 13 or 16, when you get the third strike and the extra hero damage. At that point his hero damage is very respectable. Before then he feels kind of unexciting. At the same time though, I don't know why I would pick him over other options. He isn't particularly tanky. He doesn't have great mobility or sustain, and his phase prism isn't a super way to peel. So far I've had the best luck with it catching people as they try to flee. I tried both of his ults too. The pulse seems better than the beam, though I suppose running away from the beam does distract a person. In what kind of situations is Artanis the right choice? Artanis has a fun mechanic that isn't immediately apparent, that being you can throw out his swap mid blade dash. What this means is you can stand way back, dash forward, and throw the prism at the the very tip of the dash. The enemy will then get swapped waaaaay back where you were originally standing. You can use this trick to get some really silly picks, just be sure you have an escape plan for where you end up.

Filthy Monkey posted:Newbie diary: Day...two weeks? Artanis doesn't seem to be like a primary tank as much as a second warrior choice who can set up insane picks and brawl hard in teamfights. So I guess the situation would be something like having another actual tank on your team. He also does good in situations where having a lot of blinding power helps due to Suppression Pulse at 10 so if the other team relies on a lot of AA damage or maybe if your team has Cassia, and I've seen people pick him on maps like Battlefield of Eternity due to Amateur Opponent doing bonus damage against non-heroes. Here's a video with some pretty crazy good Artanis play, not from the Artanis player's perspective unfortunately but still. Grubby's team eventually wins this match but for the entire first part of it the enemy Artanis is doing insane work. You can also see that the enemy team has a much more solid frontline tank in the form of Arthas, and Grubby's team is running triple assassin in the form of Zuljin, Greymane, and Genji so Suppression Pulse gets some work done. For even more shenanigans, the direction you throw the prism doesn't have to correspond to the direction of your blade dash, which means you can dash forward and then prism someone at like a 90% angle to you.

Neat. I didn't know you could use Artanis' other abilities during blade dash. I will try them out next time. So far, as a scrub league newbie newb who has only played a portion of the heroes, I think my favorites of each type so far are ... Assassin - Butcher. FRESH MEAT. I've actually played assassin class heroes the least, but knocking heads as the butcher is pretty amusing. I enjoy the ramp-up to face-melting damage. I think my overall win rate with him is the highest of all my heroes. Warrior - ETC. Tough competition here as I've played and liked a lot of the warriors. He seems to have a good mix of movement, disruption, and healing. His ultimates are real gamechangers too, which is always really fun. I am also a big fan of Dehaka and Stitches. Support - Probably Li Li. Sometimes it is fun to go on a mindless adventure, not have to worry about aiming abilities, and just mash the q button. Specialist Nazeebo. I don't have experience with a lot of the specialists, but nazeebo seems to eventually become a high damage toad-shotgunning nightmare. I don't think any other character I've played matches the siege damage he can put on.

I've found this works well: Laser Twin blades to gap close Once laser is ticking, swap A short-range swap like that keeps them close enough to their original position that the laser gets an extra half-second of guaranteed hits.

All heroes can outrun the laser except Dva (who has a dash anyway) so thats why you need a slow. There's a slow talent at level 7 but that requires you to land the swap.

Directly buying chests: 5 chests/$5 12 chests/$10 25 chests/$20 52 chests/$40 Buying gems: 500 gems/$5 1040 gems/$10 2100 gems/$20 3750+500 gems (4250)/$40 Buying chests with gems: 5 chests/500 gems (break even) 12 chests/1000 gems (40 gems left over) 25 chests/2000 gems (100 gems left over) 52 chests/4000 gems (250 gems left over) So you're paying the same amount of money but you end up with some gems left over if you buy in anything bigger than 5-chest/5 dollar increments.
