Yeah, a significant event that affected liquidity, the price of bitcoin, or otherwise made people reconsider cryptos. In April the reaction to the bitfinex news was quite significant, it gave people pause and made an impact.

The miscellaneous exchange and even mining hacks that happen from time to time have not had the same impact as what happened in April  Not even nicehash, has it made people stop mining or buying cryptos? nope

The tether stuff, much like the "You can use Cryptos for actual, legal ponzis" as well as "Did you know there's a porncoin" is part of the noise that comes with crypto, please choose accordingly where you invest your money

I suggest avoiding Tether as hard as you can

Did they ever resolve that issue with like a million ethereum that were lost due to some guy accidentally deleting a line of code? I'd have to say that if I had a lot of faith in crypto, that would have shaken it.

Actually genius idea - I’m gonna create a cryptocurrency that outputs loot boxes which can contain rare and super rare versions of the coin that can be worth 10 or 100 as much. I’ll also include power ups and stat boosts like an error tolerance booster that makes all your crypto solutions more likely to be accepted as a valid answer thereby increasing your coin output

I attempted just out of curiosity to buy some BTC (well a small fraction) and I’ve been having way too much trouble to see that it’s worth it at this point. Everything seems to have slowed down to a full halt for the Coinbase app. Credit card exchanges to BTC are supposed to be instant, but they haven’t shown up at all. There is no human support in sight available resulting from sudden popularity.

The deprecated failing fiat-based New York Times

I can assure you that every finance journalist is watching this one, popcorn to hand. The main problem with actually informative bitcoin coverage is that the mechanics of it are obscure and tedious - nobody cares, even when they're highly relevant. Also, bitcoin is good for headlines but in any practical terms it's just a blip in finance. So they have trouble getting their editors to care. You'll see detailed analyses after it falls over. Probably.

"What we're seeing is a straightforward grassroots bubble driven by speculation and greed," said Andreas M. Antonopoulos, author of Mastering Bitcoin and The Internet of Money, on Friday afternoon.

"Given so many new participants know very little about the technology, that's even more dangerous as they are taking on a serious amount of risk.

"And as such, the added congestion means bitcoin is not currently functioning as originally designed."

...

"Bitcoin is just overrun with the trolls and the money grabbers and the scammers and the pyramid schemes at the moment," said Mr Antonopoulos.

"But underneath all of that noise is a wonderful community of intelligent people who are not motivated by money and who are committed to this decentralisation project. That heartens me amid all of this."
