What a good dog. I had some experience with bird strike my last deployment, and we could've used him there. Would've saved us a landing gear panel that got bashed in.

He told me about this when I was young, and I've never inquired further because the mental image is just too perfect.

I can't speak to your dad's experiences, but airborne K9 units are definitely a thing. I've supported a few ops with dogs involved.
