Dear diary, I got another erection today at work. SO embarrassing, but kinda hot. The CO asked me to fix up his dress uniform. I had stayed late at work to move his badges 1/8" to the left and pointed it out this morning. 1SG spanked me while the CO watched, once they caught it. Tomorrow I get to start all over again...

Did Doom on Switch ever get a patch to fix the audio issues?

It must have. Sounds fine for me. I notice some of the texture smoothing while playing but no terrible frame drops. Similar performance to Skyrim. I don’t mind because I’m loving playing doom and Skyrim on a goddamn handheld.

The Manticore posted:

I can tell you that if feels machine translated, but if you've played a traditional roguelike before then you know what to expect and are getting exactly that. I've made it about halfway down according to the game's own progress log, and the speed with which I can boot up and start a run means I've put more time into it this week than Gungeon.
Skills come in the form of "fangs" that drop randomly from monsters, and you can equip them to use later (once they've charged up) or spend them immediately for an immediate benefit.
There's also a "brave" system for weapons that I haven't wrapped my head around fully yet, but it seems like you can accrue points by standing in place during combat to unlock certain abilities on weapons, and those points diminish once you start moving again. Maybe.
There are monster houses and items with random effects (different magical rods, in this case), and ranged monsters can accidentally kill each other while trying to kill you, causing them to evolve. Things can get pretty hectic, but it feels good to use every item in your inventory to power through a bullshit situation.
There's also a sort of puzzle room mode that tests your understanding of the game's systems by requiring you to follow certain steps in order to reach the stairs alive.

I'm enjoying my time with it and haven't had any issues aside from the quality of the translation sometimes getting in the way of item descriptions.
Cool, looks like I'll be picking it up then.

As always seems to be the case, watching some Northernlion videos helped.

No, the pace and structure are much closer to Isaac. You can aim in 360 degrees and you switch between guns that require ammo a la NT and it has the same "bullet hell" feel sometimes but you're traversing a dungeon map, clearing out individual rooms full of enemies, using keys to unlock doors and chests, buying poo poo from a shopkeeper, etc. There are also like hundreds of persistent item unlockables much like Isaac as well. Nuclear Throne's speed and gunfeel are unmatched for me, but Gungeon is the only game that scratches the same top-down dungeon crawl itch for me as BoI

I'm really enjoying it. Portrait mode pinball in bed while listening to podcasts in the hour or so before falling asleep is perfect. I just need to 3D print a stand that's better at holding the Switch sideways that I can set on my belly like an odder.

But I don't think I can justify the price to re-buy the tables I already have on Steam. Tesla's my favorite, but it only comes as part of a $10 pack, and I don't like any of the other tables. I'll probably hold off until some of them go on sale.

Also, does anyone have any opinions on Stern Pinball Arcade for Switch? I've heard the Steam version is a broken train wreck, though I don't know the specifics of what makes it so bad. I tried the free Frankenstein table on Switch, and it seems fine, I guess - feels just like classic Pinball Arcade. Has the Switch version fixed some of the problems, or have I just not encountered them yet? I'm considering getting Ghostbusters and Star Trek.

Nice! Third floor is still where I will still always die if I'm playing sloppy, after hundreds of runs. I came soooo close to beating the last boss last night on a couple runs but I'm still a little rusty it seems like. I love how much more quickly you accumulate the Credits for meta-unlocks in the new patch on the Switch version, though -- bosses drop like 5 or 6 of them sometimes when they used to consistently only give you 2 or 3. That was a smart move considering how they've added a bunch of new poo poo to unlock at the breach
