If the exact same people vote, and vote the exact same way as their party-line vote, Dems would win. It was narrow enough that it's basically a coinflip because who the gently caress knows who will turn out for special election II: control of the entire virginia legislature but if there's a special election the vote for speaker happens BEFORE the special election could happen, giving Dems a temporary 50-49 majority even if Republicans eventually win, and then Democrats would already have control and a Republican motion to change that would fail, 50-50.

Beyond the Byrd rule issue, did they manage to fully fix its reconciliation issues? It would be pretty loving hilarious if they realize they hosed up with the last minute changes again and need 60 votes in Senate.
