As far as I'm aware the ALP NBN policy is to see what sort of state it's in when they inherit it, and figure out what they can afford to fix.

I believe they have plans to remove HFC from the mix and replace it with FTTBasement/FTTCurb, which have replaced FTTNode on the Liberal's rollout too.

Basically under Labor you can expect FTTP to be steadily upgraded to gigabit speeds. FTTB/C can almost certainly do the same with minimal upgrades.

Technically DOCSIS 3.1 spec for HFC supports gigabit, but it's such a dog's breakfast that we're better off scrapping it.

If you're on FTTN, what you get now is what you can expect to live with for the forseeably future. Neither party have any plans to upgrade it to a better technology. So you better hope you're close to the node and can take advantage of 100/40 or you're getting left behind when the rest of the world figures out things to do with a 100+mbit other than multiple 4k streams, private cloud or downloading Game of Thrones, but faster.

Distance from the exchange is irrelevant under FTT*.

If you're getting FTTN (you'd probably already have it if so because I don't think they're rolling it out much anymore) then it's distance from the pillar/node.

If you're getting FTTC/dp (most common now) then nothing matters, hail satan.

If you're old enough to have not gotten any at school you're also old enough to not have grown up with an entire internet's worth of professionally produced porn, where the positions are dictated by camera angle and not pleasure, and the actors are usually noticeably faking, to screw up your idea of sex.

Also sex ed covers stuff like reproductive health (periods, STIs) and contraception, both super important even if you don't teach how actual sex works.

Aaaaaand this right here is a perfect example of why sex ed should be taught in schools and not just by parents.

(Not calling you an idiot ili, but as Night Shade points out there is a ton of stuff covered by sex ed that isn't just how to put your genitals near another person's genitals)

Sex ed also covers such important lessons as "If a guy tells you he is in pain and the only way to fix it is for you to have sex with him, he is lying and it is ok to tell him to gently caress off" and "If someone doesn't want you to have sex with them, then you shouldn't have sex with them".

Dolly magazine used to cover the first one, but sadly they stopped making it last year. Zoo magazine covered the second one, but in reverse. Fortunately they stopped printing that a few years back.

Kids need to learn about pregnancy and contraception, and STIs, and about consent, and about what happens during puberty (amongst other things).

Even those concepts you mentioned don't come "naturally"; think about how there is still a stigma or taboo about female masturbation, or about how female pleasure is often considered of secondary importance.

From a perspective of a year 7-8 this stuff is kinda good: Safe School Materials

It lays it out pretty straightforwardly a lot of the non-linear gender stuff and tries to get kids to understand the challenges people have from a different perspective.

Ah, fair enough. We covered pregnancy contraception etc in science and I think contraception and stis in home ec. It makes sense to cover the whole thing together in one subject, although it feels a bit sad to have to have an explicit lesson about consent and no actually meaning no.

They don't understand it then because the only part of the program that isn't totally at the discretion of the school administration is a pledge to implement policies and procedures to reduce bullying. That's bullying in general, mind you, not homo/transphobic bullying specifically.

Literally everything beyond that is at the complete discretion of the school.
