Well yeah, but I guess the question is then, why?

If its for the backstage stuff, its gonna be toned down to spare Wiseau's feelings

if its to see stuff from The Room, I would just watch The Room

EDIT: Whelp Max Landis is up next in the great sexual harassment pogrom of 2017.

I saw it in a double feature. The Room first and then The Disaster Artist. The crowd was way more into The Room. I felt like The Disaster Artist missed some of the obvious comedic undertones of the book and instead inserted unnecessary exposition. The sexual implication between Tommy and Greg was especially strange since that never came up at any point in the book or during interviews. An enjoyable movie, but I feel like it could have been more than just an homage to The Room. James Franco did a fantastic job as Tommy, one of his better performances. Dave Franco on the other hand should not be involved in acting in any way.

I used to play RISK online. Actually at a website where some guy re-created the old BBS wargame Global Wars on a webpage, and Global Wars was itself a fairly faithful recreation of RISK.

RISK can be a decent game, if you modify it. There's a ton of possible modifications, and I can give you some if you like, but the most critically important one is that if you do random-positions for start (where you shuffle the deck of cards with territories on them and then deal them out to the players to determine their starting territories), you need to mulligan/re-do if anyone starts with 2+ territories in australia or south america. Which means a lot of mulligans, it's way easier to do this programmatically with a computer game.

RISK is not a good family game in any case. Too competitive and rewarding of ruthless behavior. If you do play it with your family I suggest outlawing any form of diplomacy, because nothing engenders hard feelings more than having your probably-winning position undercut by your family members allying against you. Well, except for when one of them stabs the other as soon as you're no longer the #1 threat.

It's also probably just not worth the effort, considering that we are living in a rennaisance of board gaming where there are hundreds and hundreds of amazingly good games available in every possible genre. The only real reason to play RISK instead of something much much better is nostalgia, and that's not a great reason to play a board game.

I wanna play Monopoly with no house rules, I don't think I've ever done that and supposedly it's better and shorter.

We used to play Risk 2045 or something it was better, you could conquer the moon, there were aqua colonies that meant Australia and S America weren't as isolated, and most importantly, the game ended after 5 turns.

Yeah I’ve been playing it with 4 family members today and the intensity of the fights is pretty bad, it felt like we were fighting about real life stuff not a board game. I was so angry at some points, like the kind of anger that feels unhealthy and scary

Leperflesh

Jesus, if anyone is genuinely angry during family board game time, it's time to step back and say "hey guys I'm feeling pretty angry, could we stop playing this and do something that doesn't make people angry?" Because being legit mad at family members or friends or even just strangers during game time is not the right way to play games.
