Season 1 started pretty weak. It was mostly just a monster of the week series. Most of the fond memories people have of GX occur during the Sacred Beasts arc and Season 2.

So after binge watching 5Ds I skipped Zexal cause the premise did nothing for me, I'm 49 episodes into Arc-V and holy poo poo this type of insane interdimensional war is exactly what I want my children's card game animes to be about. The whole cast is fantastic, even the 3rd stringers like the Ninjas, Chef boy, fisherman, and New Neo Neo Shin Sawatori.

The first 3rd of Arc V is my favourite thing across all of Yugioh. I didn't mind the rest of it either, though I ended up falling off around episode 100 and I think the final act wasn't received super well. Those first few arcs though are the loving best.

I really like that Yuya and Yuta/Ute XYZ'd each other so they're two souls overlayed one body. It's a nice plot/theme convergence. I'm guess Yugo/Hugo will sacrifice himself to created a path for Yuya and the fusion one with...well fuse with him until Yuya can just summon them all at will pendulum style.

I wish it was something like that. It feels like by the end of Synchro they didn't realize they didn't have four more years to wrap up the plot, so everything after that ends up feeling rushed and unsatisfying - but still takes a super long time with duels which don't even advance the plot. It's really baffling.

Vector is great because at first he's loving intolerable as Shingetsu, hitting every wrong trope about the new character for a new season that takes all the attention from the rest while being heavily irritating. And then he's some kind of interstellar cop and he becomes somewhat interested, you start liking him... And then no, it's all bullshit and he was evil all along. And then he becomes your new favourite character. It was masterfully done, and pretty much every scene with him is pure gold.

The second half of GX season 3 in the dub is like the absolute worst. How was 'gets sent to the stars' possibly the euphemism for death everyone at 4kids decided to go with. For as stupid as banishing people to the shadow realm was at least it sounded like a plausible thing.

You ever notice that every time 4Kids edits a death or injury out, they not only try to remove the implication the character is dead or not in any real danger, they also pour on the "HE'S FINE. I'M FINE. THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE, NO ONE BE CONCERNED" to such an elaborate extent? I dunno, it just seems like they make it more obvious by doing so.
