Reptiles are still exothermic, meaning their metabolic processes still generate heat. They just don't produce as much as mammals due to their lower metabolism, and they have fewer built-in mechanisms for regulating that heat. As a result, they rely to a greater extent on their environment to maintain a comfortable body temperature. If anything, a sweater might do more to keep a snake warm, because they don't have the same bag of tricks we humans do to help us stay a nice and toasty 98.6° (or 37 degrees Celsius if you live in a civilized country).
