Then Shawn left and it became a bunch of dorky midcarders trying too hard.

Well, I always loved WWE whining about WCW "stealing" their wrestlers, but when pointed out that they had done the same in the eighties, WWE quickly denied it, saying they weren't "stealing", they were offering "better opportunities".

Ernest Miller won 3 world championships in Karate before he started in WCW.

Bischoff and his son were getting trained by Miller, which is why he got in the company.

I dunno if Bischoff ever got an actual black belt but 3ven if he did, he was healing it up for TV.

The challenge happened weeks after the winning streak happened. It was in direct response to the DX Skits. He even references them in the challenge.

As for who would win in a fight, while Bischoff didn't do full contact karate he at least trained. Vince McMahon was 10 years older and hopelessly jacked up. It would have been a really stupid bad fight but Vince would gas out in two minutes and Bischoff would take over from there.

The thing about being a "black belt" is that there's not like some overseeing board setting the standards for what a black belt is, so a lot of lovely mall dojos keep people around by promoting them like crazy.

Miller was legit though

Except the only thing besides an Olympic gold medal that would qualify as a "World Championship" in Karate would be held by the World Karate Federation, which is the only organization of Karate that is not only international but also recognized by the Olympic Committee.

And some research on Wikipedia shows that not only is Ernest Miller not listed ANYWHERE as any kind of champion under the WKF, but the only American who ever WAS champion was Tokey Hill in 1980.

So the only source for Miller winning "3 world championships" (when? where? and from whom?) is...Miller himself.
I don't wanna say it's total bullshit...but it sure smells like it.

Wikipedia does add that he does supposedly have a kickboxing championship under an organization called ISKA (International Sport Karate Association), but I can't find any information that confirms or denies it.

Regular old casting it seems.

https://411mania.com/wrestling/ernest-miller-discusses-the-wrestler-being-the-cat-hanging-out-with-kanyon-james-brown-more/

quote:

Shasta McNasty (Brett Buchanan) welcomes everybody to BWR and kicks off the show by asking Ernest why he decided to become an actor. He said he felt like he wanted to try it and he was very lucky to get some opportunities. He said he was pitching around a TV show in LA and all of the TV channels he talked to told him he had a lot of charisma and should become an actor. His manager then called him and told him there might be a role open in “The Wrestler” since they had tried out actors but they thought it might be a better idea to get a wrestler who can act. He said he paid his way out to do the movie. He said director Darren Aronofsky asked him to put on some weight and he wanted The Ayatollah to look like he was 52, and that he looked too young.
