I hope they get a second season The series seems to be really popular, especially for having a weird premise and being based on a relatively obscure manga from a not-incredibly-popular magazine (the most popular thing currently running in the magazine is probably Vinland Saga, circulation of only about 70k, only noteworthy previous series are Oh my Goddess and Parasyte). It's gotten a lot of praise from the industry itself, too. Season 2 will probably happen, especially since a popular show like this will no doubt increase circulation for a magazine that's only really had a few anime adaptations. The recent Parasyte anime didn't really help, since obviously Parasyte was over by the time it got an anime, and the Sidonia anime was never huge. Working slowly through the manga and drat, poor Phos when they mistake Ghost for Antarc and have a literal PTSD meltdown. The imagery of the alloy aggressively gripping and shattering their pieces in self-mutiliation and everyone staring in horror... Poor, poor Phos. I get the feeling it's not going to get any better for them. eta: UH I WASN'T EXPECTING TO BE THAT ACCURATE LESS THAN A FEW CHAPTERS LATER... LAPIS LAZULI... I'm all caught up, and did anyone catch this possible allusion to Buddhism with Phos's continuining transformations? Because there are Seven Treasures of Buddhism, and while the substances differ a little between lists, it's generally some variation of: gold, silver, lapis lazuli, seashell, agate, pearl, and carnelian. We've gotten through gold, lapis lazuli, seashell+agate, and pearl now.
