EDIT: according to wikipedia, the Gulag labor did everything from building railroads to assembling tanks, but for some strange reason actual productivity levels never matched estimates. Go figure. I believe the Nazi's put them in war material production and the slaves/concentration camp people promptly sabotaged the hell out of everything. Concrete walls were poured poorly, war heads were underfilled or simply duds. So on and so forth.

They might not know it was his home. It they did they would have burned it, razed the remains, poured concrete all around and erected an overcompensating-sized statue of Hitler.

The Ausmerzer is basically a flying Ratte. You guys gotta think bigger, dumber, and flashier to make something truly fitting for the Nazis in this setting to use as a superweapon. ESPECIALLY dumber, even irl Nazis were 100% about style over effectiveness.

Also the Ausmerzer has a significant automated defense system that would make it hard for him to destroy it with its own weapons, and he didn't exactly bring a nuclear explosive or anything else with him to scuttle it with.

Until the next video goes up I would ask that any conversation about this video go behind spoiler text so people have a chance to see instead of read So yeah, if it isn't obvious from the above, poo poo goes down this episode. I actually had the beheading and head-on-new-body angles spoiled for me because I read a thinkpiece (because everyone produces them about everything) that mentioned the fact that some people were guessing BJ gets a new body as part of the game. It made too much sense that this is where it was going once I actually started playing the game and BJ was all broken down and what. I totally didn't expect the public execution after daydreaming of rampaging through the trial that would end with you getting your head cut off with a sword. That was all really cool and well done. How was everyone's Christmas? I got Imperial Storm Trooper Ale, a bunch of stuff my mother in law was making her gambling addicted boyfriend get rid of because the casino keeps giving him stuff (it's ok, he's rich so it's not "problem gambling") and a new chair that I specifically said should either be delivered to my house or that I should pick up in person due to limited car space. It was actually better than usual. Mostly because of the beer.

So, uhh, BJ's dad cheered on while his Jewish wife was sent to the gas. That's uh. Yeah. Lots of cool action segments here, and the level design seemed interesting, dunno how it was to play it. That Nazi court house, drat. While this new body stuff was heavily foreshadowed, it still seems a bit silly to me (in a game about quasi-magical Nazi super science, I know...), but I guess we'll see how it plays out. And maybe BJ will get to see his twins after all

It seems kind of silly to me that if you die in the courtroom fight you game over since it's a dream and doesn't effect anything, but them's videogames. Aside from that, um. Yeah I don't think I could play this game without trying to put a fist through the screen. loving Nazis, man.

Good loving God, BJ's dad is scum. Kinda wish we could have saved him for later, but good riddance, at least. This entire update had me bummed out, but then I looped back into "loving awesome," and now I don't feel so bad anymore. What do those choices do, though?

Well that was a rollercoaster of emotions to go through. When I recognized Super Spesh's voice I got real excited, then increasingly worried as the plan seemed way too good to be true. And it was Just as I was starting to really warm up to the guy, too.

I feel like at least one of the people in charge of the plot for this game had an abusive father. That arc, the father's attitudes and everything, is creepily true to life.

One thing I'm really liking about this game is that even the kinds of characters that sound like they'd be one-note caricatures - and would be, in any other game - have something else to them. For example there's Grace, who has feminist views (one of my far-right-type friends has been convinced this game is some sort of commie/Jewish power fantasy mostly because of Grace's appearance in the trailers) but isn't some stereotypical man-hater who goes off whenever men dare exist in any fashion around her and has absolutely nothing to her character beyond that - they didn't just write "grace gets offended at mention of anything masculine" for every scene she showed up in and call it a day like a GTA- or South Park-inspired game from ten to fifteen years ago would have. She's got legitimate grievances, and they're against the Nazis specifically rather than against men in general, because regardless of race or gender, everyone who isn't a Nazi or somebody who agrees with the Nazis is suffering under them. Even Rip has had a moment of actual depth to his character. I mean, sure, his character is still primarily "one-note racist rear end in a top hat", but there's at least one scene where he's not smacking BJ and Zofia upside the head every time they give him lip, even giving BJ every child's favorite toy as part of an actual lesson. Still, something I was typing out earlier in the thread, I think after the fifth episode, but didn't end up posting was that I "liked" Rip for what little we saw of him in the first episode, but not in the same sense as how I took a liking to Grace. Grace I like because she is a type of disagreeable character that's still, y'know, an actual character who's not disagreeable one-hundred percent of the time. Rip I liked in the sense that, even with just one or two scenes from the first video, I knew that he was already set up to be the kind of character that was going to die messily at some point in the game, and that if BJ got to be the one to take him out it would be incredibly satisfying to watch. And also in part because listening to Glenn Morshower spew Nazi-type poo poo is still hilarious. Also, I know I was expecting the head-on-new-body thing to come up again, it just seemed like the only reason they'd suddenly introduce Set's cat/monkey, but... drat. I even actually suggested it could have happened, but I really was not expecting BJ to be the one needing a new body. Lazyfire posted:How was everyone's Christmas? It was actually better than usual. Mostly because of the beer. Mine's been a very Wolfenstein Christmas. Between this LP and rewatching your evil twin's run through the 2009 game for I think the third time, I decided to pick up Return to Castle Wolfenstein (since it's the closest I'll legally get to the 2009 game, what with the Retrostein mod) and got gifted The Old Blood (since it's basically more levels for The New Order). I'll say that those levels are absolute cast-iron bitches on DI, where armor is less metal and more aerogel. Once I learned the big secret --survive until the doors open, then high-tail it to an upper armory-- it became doable, but drat. Pretty much echo your thoughts otherwise though!

I don't think that the BB gun sequence was supposed to imply Rip coulda been a good person, because he strikes me as the type that would have ended up a scumbag regardless of his circumstances. I think it's meant to show that even the most wretched of people have a thin sliver of good intention in them.
