We did xmas games and our team name was The Lib Dems for lots of gentle gags. then after an hour or so my wealthy uncle exploded in fury about what a good man vince cable, that we were 'debasing politics' and something incoherent about buying a house. it was very odd to see a lib dem appear momentarily passionate about something

Merry Christmas everyone. We usually make Christmas a simple affair, since the family is spread out over the continent, but this year we joined the entire extended family for a massive Christmas celebration in the UK. Wouldn't usually post this kind of thing on SA, but I was pretty confused about the various Christmas traditions the English side of the family made a big fuss about. Is it normal that everyone has to wear brown at Christmas? I think they assumed everyone would just know that, but I've literally never heard of that before. Maybe it's a Cumbrian tradition? British side of the family Everyone was real happy about Brexit though, so the fact that their continental family didn't "respect our traditions" didn't completely ruin Christmas for them. when my neighbours' grandma had to babysit their kids she'd put a few drops of rum in the kids' juice/tea if they were being too lively and that calmed them right down. I only found out about this after I grew up (they were both my generation) and it explained so loving much lmao
