National security

When has what Trump promised ever mattered

I doubt the physical will even happen

Anything Trump promises to do is fiction until he actually does it, and usually even then

HIPAA + National Security. They shouldn't have even said they would release it in the first place. We all know he's out of shape as gently caress anyways.

He did in the same way Michael Scott declared bankruptcy: shouting it indiscriminately and thinking that’s all he had to do.

For all his faults, at least Chris Christie actually spent money and resources and manpower to work on the opioid crisis, and the nation might have actually gotten something real out of him as VP. Speculative fiction, of course.

As Cefte explained, thinking is hard for many people.

I also think there's and issue with people blaming posters for the derails that follow their posts, even when it isn't on them at all. IE "stop posting because I'm so tired of reading people tell you to stop posting" but with no awareness of the irony.

Trump definitely just wants to start a war, any war, so he can ride the wave of jingoistic praise. He wants his own "mission accomplished" moment.

Lol his point was not that "thinking is hard." It's that people do not care to learn PJ's proprietary definitions, jargon, and nomenclature. It's the same reason most people do not read the actual journal article about a new scientific discovery, and instead consume it by either media or scienctic sources that convey the content without jargon and niche language. Carl Sagan's biggest talent was translating jargon heavy concepts for a lay audience.

PJ is the further hindered by creating her own jargon and such in a field that already has established jargon. She argues from the specific to the general constantly, using her own speficic experiences in niche communities to comment on and predict society-level trends and events.

She specifically predicted things like Trump losing his mind during the debates and either physically assaulting Clinton or verbally attacking her with crude vulgarities. When that did not happen, it's been backtracked to, paraphrased, "trump is going to be a boorish oaf who lies a lot, is borderline white supremecist and tremendously harmful" which does not require specialized jargon to state.

PJ is a smart person with some good ideas, but she is throwing her first draft out for everyone to see instead of having it honed and refined with help from experts. She is not an authority on anything, yet speaks as if she is, using words like Narrativist as though they mean something we should all understand.

I was asking about the individual (blue) state's legal response to the 'tax plan' the other day and here I have my answer-ish.

ThinkProgrress - Democratic governors threaten legal action against Republican tax plan

I was wondering how state laws could be used to offset that giveaway, but it was the wrong question to ask.

quote:

Earlier in December, Cuomo — along with California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) and New Jersey Gov.-elect Phil Murphy — suggested that progressive states could seek legal recourse against the tax bill, but did not say exactly what that action might look like. In his interview with CNN, Cuomo suggested that the bill might be unconstitutional.

Norm Eisen, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and former White House ethics czar, said on Twitter that the “disparate treatment of pro GOP and anti-GOP States” in the tax plan “is so grotesque that there may well be a due process claim.”

Other legal experts have argued that the challenges would likely depend on state’s being able to show that the tax bill violates the protection of states’ rights under the U.S. Constitution.

I'd love if, after smashing the VRA with the "dignity of states" nonsense, this tax bill targeted at hurting specific states was shot down on the same basis.
