She also got too stressed out going against Payne, even though she had already gone against Blackquill at that point and won. That game's timeline was really terrible when it came to character development.

She had a co-counsel for Blackquill and also still had a very similar moment to what happened with Payne but pulled through thanks to having the support of basically the entire courtroom (including blackquill). The concept itself isn't super interesting or anything but it was consistent in the narrative.

Her having anxiety attacks when she realizes she just (seemingly) majorly hosed up is definitely more relatable than Phoenix and Apollo going Super Saiyan, at least. :v:

The only case that's not too long in AAI2 is the first one. Some trimming here and there would have been a good idea.

AAI2 is an excellent game, but yeah, the final case being so slow kinda killed the entire series playthrough it was part of dead in its tracks.

Honestly the first case being real boring is what killed AAI2 for me. I want to go back and finish it at some point but it's left a real bad first impression on me.

I think I just don't like Investigation's style in general compared to the main games.

I'd forgotten how likable Damon Gant was - after he's found out and his loss becomes decisive he doesn't piss and moan about it, he just admits that he sucked at committing crimes and wishes everyone the best before getting escorted to prison, dropping a line about seeing the winds of change approaching. I've just finished a replay of the first game.

I waited until after AA3 to do the last case in 1 and honestly think I’m better off for it, since at least Edgeworth peacing out is consistently portrayed as him in fact bitching out in AA2.

I think my favourite Edgeworth moment is in one of the Investigations games, I think 2, when he Bluffs for the first time due to not actually being able to back up his logic for once. He's all like "OH MY GOD WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING!? I've never been this scared in my entire life, how does Wright do it?! :gonk:"

Edgeworth rules, and my favorite moment for him is in 3, when you are playing as him for a bit and encounter 5 psyche locks on Larry, and Edgeworth just goes gently caress this I'll deal with it in court tomorrow.

Onto the second game now - I'd forgotten how reasonable Franziska was from the start - she is willing to admit despite her perfection when she doesn't know what's going on. When Phoenix gets the key out that he should not have, instead of trying to bury the truth with a theory of her own she simply says "I'm afraid to ask, but... why is that key in your possession?" She's not just annoyed, she's curious- this is something that she missed, and she can't figure out what it means to the case. This foreshadows her not being her father and eventually joining the Search for the Truth for the Investigations games. She's still condescending, but she's less terrible a person.

Franziska is a good character and I'd like to see her come back. It would be neat for her to like mentor Athena for a case or something.

I can’t remember being quite so devastated when I realized what the twist in the case was. Just a sad situation all around for the people involved. It doesn’t excuse what was done of course, but as someone in a medical profession I understood/empathized.

I like Franny, but I never want to see her again. Considering how they've handled old characters returning (not particularly well), I feel like adding to her story would just weaken her character. The extreme of this has already happened to Edgeworth.

The appearance is what they change the least about the returning characters, but I think it would be good for her to be the returning character for once. Unlike Edgeworth, I don't think they'd feel the need to have her keep showing up just for the sake of meeting expectations of character presence regardless of whether she has any reason to be involved.

It would be interesting to see her in Kura'in what with the Sins of the Father stuff - she'd tear that logic to pieces. She would not allow them to apply that bullshit to her. They can try certainly, if they don't mind getting whipped to hell and back because she's 10 times the person her daddy was, and she knows it.

By the way, am I the only one who thinks of Lena Luthor (from Supergirl) and Franziska Von Karma as similar characters? They both come from a family known for being cruel and wicked, but are much better people than anyone else to come out of those environments, and both have to deal with the anchor that their family names have become around their necks, however they have the strengths those families are expected to have - a ruthless side that adds an air of realism/cynicism to their overall world view. (I also love Lena BTW and wish her the best)

Despite everyone's hatred of Turnabout Bigtop, there is one part that was actually kind of funny - Mo actually manages to make Von Karma tell a joke:

When he goes on his panic-spiel about Pi, Franziska's response is "I want the whole truth... no fractions!" Franny made a pun :kimchi:

I've been thinking about the nature of perfection, and something Franny misses is that Phoenix's cases are always truly perfect - every piece of evidence accounted for, every witness with their place in the narrative - nothing irrelevant, the entire situation ties up neatly (because it's a video game, but still the point stands) It would be an interesting way to bring her character back by giving her her own spinoff exploring her mindset with Interpol, with the mechanic being a "Perfection" mechanic - all the evidence placed by the end of each case forming a full picture with no loose pieces left out. Maybe a series of scenes like those old fuzzy-felt toys representing the different stages of the crime, and as she works out where each testimony/piece of evidence goes it gets placed in the image and makes everything clearer - sort of like Dangan Ronpa's Closing Arguments but built slowly over the course of each case.

It would also contrast against Edgeworth's logic mechanic - while Edgeworth's purpose is to clear the board, Franny's is to fill it.

Just a thought about how her ~thing~ could work...

Same with Gumshoe who got un-stupided in AAI2.

Unfortunately AA1 Larry has been lost to the winds of time and we have an obnoxious idiot who nobody actually likes in his place.

Remember when, instead of trying to obstruct the investigation/trial every time because of something probably really petty, he tried to get Edgeworth's rear end off the hook (and succeeded!) in AA1? It was still a trainwreck of course but at least his intentions were good.

456 has been better about keeping its characters consistent, but that might just be that there aren't as many majorly recurring characters in those outside of the Agency, Ema, Blackquill, and the Judge.

I'd rather they avoid bringing back characters for the most part. Most AA witnesses are gimmicks that work really well for one case but then get old after that.
