Scott Howard's call was shouty as usual (he's fine, FWIW), but man, to have Munson call that.

They 100% drew up a pick play to run against Clemson because of last year and that owns. We need more spiteful stuff in sports.
Alabama didn’t even win their division. See also: 2017 Alabama.
Saying they shouldn’t have been there isn’t the same as saying they weren’t one of the two best teams in the nation. They absolutely handled LSU, so it’s pretty tough to say they were actually worse than them.

They got an unfair chance at a rematch because *reasons*

reminder oklahoma had a 4th and 1 and needed 13 yards to win the game, with the best offense in the country, and kicked the field goal most gutless coaching decision i've seen in a long time

LeeMajors posted:They were worse than them because LSU already beat them and LSU won the division they both share. They got an unfair chance at a rematch because *reasons* If they were worse why did they beat LSU 21-0? And being worse than LSU doesn’t mean they aren’t the second best team in the country, it means they aren’t the best team in the country. The problem here is thinking that the purpose of the championship is to pick the best team, and not just to pick a champion. Bama was better than LSU that year but still shouldn’t have been in the title game. These aren’t mutually exclusive statements.

I'd forgotten all about that Oklahoma squib kick fuckup at the end of the first half that led to the super long field goal. Which ended up mattering.

Seems they had a 1-1 record and lost the conference to LSU. If we are just picking the 'best' teams and ignoring what happens on the field then maybe we should put 22 players through the combine and a kicking challenge, crank out a spreadsheet score and play just one actual football game every year. Bleep bloop.

This loving sucks, college football at the highest level loving sucks, and I will acknowledge Nick Saban's greatness while also saying I want him to decide he hates football and goes the gently caress away forever.
