Untrustable posted:Also someone stole our AED and no one knew about it for months. The person who was designated to check the battery level on it once a week had just been lying and saying it was charged. I never went to independently verify his claims so I guess that's on me. I hope somebody pushed that guy down one of the holes in the walls.

Maintenance and cleaning folks know that people will move your "restroom closed" signs with no hesitation, including wheeling work carts out of the way so they can squeeze past. I once had a woman come into a restroom in a food court where I had a toilet off the wall and a K-50 in the drain. I told her the bathroom is closed and she should use the other one 50 feet away, but she said she "just had to go." It didn't seem to faze her when I told her she was wading in 2 inches of raw sewage either, so I guess she really had to go.

There's no shame in being legit illiterate, that's on the education system for letting you down when you were a kid. But at least use a voice recorder to record accurate data.

Probably not- it's common for drivers run their days so tight that they won't turn in their paperwork until the next day, preferring to cross the t's and dot the i's at home. This guy was an exceptional case- he knew the names of all of the customers and the local streets from memory, he had been peddling freight in Buffalo for 30+ years.

The Lone Badger posted:How did you know how long it's been missing for? Well I guessed because I assigned him the very simple task of checking if the green light was illuminated on the AED after we busted it out for what I thought was a heart attack victim (but wasn't, weird story on that one) on July 27th, 2015. I remember the date so well because it was also the day the casino flooded and I remember writing the very lengthy reports. I realized it was missing during the winter of 2016 (January or so) because I was training a new officer and showing him where everything was and the AED was gone. By my former employee's admission he had stopped checking it after a "few weeks". Honestly it could've been stolen the day before. I'm just assuming it had been months.

I really want to see the next 30 seconds of that video. zedprime posted:Sounds like they are personally issued and at shift change the outgoing shift had put their gear up in their personal locker and the incoming shift hadn't retrieved their gear yet. I used to work for a really lovely event company and their side business was shooting fireworks. I say "side business" because for them there was zero money in shooting fireworks, the owner just thought it was fun so got the licenses and would normally break even on shows. And this is not the stuff you get from a roadside stand, these are 1.3G display fireworks ranging from 2" to 12" shells. Because we used fire extinguishers fairly often, dealt with mostly non-electrical/liquid fires and the owner of the company was a former firefighter when working, we had about 20 Class A fire extinguishers that could be refilled and recharged at our shop with just some water and an air compressor. ANYWAY, when the company was doing well and have some money in the coffers, I would use the little plastic tags that you're supposed to use on fire extinguishers that keep the safety pin from sliding out. Those are very cheap and can be pulled apart with almost no effort, so they work great! But, when money was tight and we ran out of the right tags, I was told, by my boss, a former firefighter, to "just use a normal zip tie". I think the idea was that the zip tie would hold the pin in place until we could get the right tags. Fast forward 6 months, we are doing a firework shoot and at the end of it, I need a fire extinguisher to put out a fire. Of course, the one I grab has a zip tie around it and I almost dislocated a finger trying to put the safety pin. Imagin standing in front of a fire that is growing, and you are frantically trying to break a zip tie so you can use the extinguisher? I've lived it, and its loving stupid. I stopped working for they many years ago. Now I walk I beam 100' in the air. Much safer.
