Can we ever give comrades the benefit of the doubt that they're trying in good faith? Can we criticize people for what they've done and not what we project them as having done? Can we learn from mistakes instead of chewing off our legs preemptively? Delicious, delicious socialist leg meat.

The revolution will be passive aggressive as gently caress I guess.

Now I'm doing it too. Don't look at me...

None of this will happen until DSA online is purged, by being forced to log off

Do you think this is funny?
I'm glad it was just a mix up but tbh I think it's not the worst thing that people were concerned enough to speak out. Just wish there was something more faster and more effective than "the internet rumor mill" to learn about what's going on.

Tbh 50% of DSA's internal problems would be solved by logging off (the other 50% would be to flush the NPC down the toilet!!!)

Yeah, I deleted my twitter and unfollowed everything DSA related on Facebook (but am still technically friends with everyone) and it's completely great. What I say in this thread is literally all of my onlineness.

i rarely check twitter and it's great because actually none of this drama matters irl but my partner is our co chair so she gets to spend a lot of time putting out internet fires which doesn't seem like a lot of fun for her.

we have a few very active members that are also very online (and great members) and twitter riles people up and makes them think there are issues that need to be addressed RIGHT NOW

it's really weird because twitter drama absolutely gives this adrenaline dump that makes people think that everything is falling apart and needs to be fixed with statements and proclamations etc immediately but if they weren't checking it all day they wouldn't have that same sense of impending doom. like we need to get better as an org at trying to actually communicate with comrades as people and not just on twitter because the structure of the internet interaction results in a depersonalized relationship. i really think the constant outrage is more a result of people not having to look each other in the eye and read body language and have to listen to someone speak so people are able to immediately decide someone is bad and needs to be denounced

no, there's nothing special or unique about twitter. it's the result of a group of people who enjoy abusing others, taking advantage of both the protection offered from retaliation provided by the internet, married with the sort of almost highly reactive effect of callout culture, where you can get away with almost anything, so long as you use the right wording & rhetoric when you're directing it, and if you have enough peers backing you up.

it's a pattern of behaviors that's both too common to be a coincidence, yet displayed by too few people to be systemic - it's a tactic, to push an agenda.

Twitter is like if you took the comment section of a news site and made a website out of only that. Just the comments section.

RL Stephens is good some times and comes off as a glory hound making power plays for the leadership other times. Don't know what to think of him other than he is also too online.

That was a good meeting. The chapters new so they didn't really have any working groups going.

One thing that was lol was a thirty year member running for county clerk being mad about online.

There are liberal overly online people in the DSA, there is also a specific clique/sub group of people who really hate Chapo. That Conor Arpwel or w.e. just announced they're running for leadership in the disability working group lol
