When I was a kid I thought the Genesis version of Aladdin was better probably because the sprites were more detailed and because I hated this part on the SNES version where the genie tries to murder you in various creative ways

They should do Super Metroid Randomizer Race for SGDQ. Randomizer races are where it's at, and they were 100% correct to do that for ALTTP. Regular runs for those games are done to death but rando races are fun as hell.

I like both Megadrive and SNES versions. I love how companies made the different versions of games on both platforms in that era so different from each other, and not just port it differently (Aladdin, Castlevania, Turtles, Contra...)

Yeah that's the thing: If none of the good runners submit a run, and none of those that do submit are consistent enough then the run just isn't accepted. That's why the prize donations are kinda always either just product packages or low effort crafts. You never know until the accepted runs list is put out if the game you want to make something for is going to actually be in the show. You can usually call your shot and just make something generically associated with the big names like Mario, Sonic, etc. But even then it might not be in. I kinda lucked out when I made my Mario Maker piece that they decided to have it on again for SGDQ.

Yeah it was cool that you would get different versions of the same game, but in most cases that just meant that one platform got a good version and one got a lovely version.

Tea today is the classic Earl Gray from Sloane that comes in a fancy container. An awesome brother got me that for Christmas this year to go with a really nice mug. Also great singing. Nearly thought it deliberately bad!
