The End would run away, and he would have to go chase after him through multiple maps, basically making him play it regularly. He could turn off his PS3, move the clock forward a week, and then just come back to the game (The End dies of old age).

So now you need to hoof it back, but you don't have any of the gear you used on him. It can leave you with no fast strat for him, and fighting him normally takes a looong time. So unlike other games you can't just die and give it another go, you'd need to actually go back and then have some backup strat.

That particular boss isn't "instanced" so you just keep having to run through that area (and or several others) finding him if you don't get the quick kill. Also you lose like all your gear and get placed in an out of the way area that you have to get back to which takes time. It's not "impossible" to finish the fight, but it's a run killer.
