if the M4A committee isn't a paid position, her losing the official status isn't that big an issue considering she would probably be unofficially involved in conversations, because the petition can't really stop unofficial involvement as its requesting. i don't think any of the folks are going to cast amber out and not take her feedback if they saw her as an important enough voice to be on the committee in the first place. i get removal request, but the, "officially or unofficially involved" part of the petition is just asking folks to stop being friends with the mean lady.

They yearn to be the smartest guy in the room, not realizing stuff like glamorizing communist Russia/Lenin/Stalin won't fly in America to people who merely think single payer is a good idea. But FWIW a lot of local chapters are truly doing tremendous work, especially Houston in the wake of the hurricane.

I think it's nice to have a word that is shorthand for "fellow person who recognizes capitalism is the problem, and who is prepared to do something about it" and while it's fair to say some who throw around the word "comrade" may be less serious than others as political actors, I don't think it's cosplay to try to understand and even emulate elements of past traditions that tried to fight against oppressive systems, if you're actually trying to change things.
