The stand sounds cool until you realize you can't smell a book, and in reality, everyone dying would smell very bad. It would be a lot less gross if everyone got raptured or turned into tang instead of just rotting.

Stephen king is at his best writing short stories or character studies. The stand was also heavily steeped in Cold War, we’re all going to die, nonsense. I also was thinking about the one where they put people into stasis when they go to mars and a kid palms the drugs and comes out the other side crazy because the space ship gets close to c and he basically lives an eternity but his body is still a kid.
