This level is my least favorite, especially to 100% because you have to backtrack back up the shaft.

Which is another reason why that race was bad, because unlike an any% Super Metroid run, there's basically no risk of anyone dying, so there can be no comebacks.

Giant Bowser is both an insanely cool fight graphically and very frustrating to aim (because the game isn't really designed around 3D firing, and it's the only place in the game where eggs fire in arcs).
