I'm not fully sure how well it was executed other than it was one of the more slower, laid-back episodes to retreat from the drama, high-stakes episodes, since my memory's a bit fuzzy about it now. It was at least subtle about it, since it wasn't obvious when we watched it last year since it never states it out loud that area they go to was hit by the tsunami, so the episode mostly focuses on the effects and reconstruction, and parallels its recovery with the group's current state and relationships. a while back, a japanese ex-game dev dude did a chapter of a manga about sakaguchi and his talk with him about the creation of final fantasy. more recently, he did a chapter about the creator of yakuza that ends with this http://news.denfaminicogamer.jp/english/171121 (he also did a chapter a couple days ago with shigesato itoi. it's a cool manga)
