I watched the podracing scene on a huge screen in a stadium style theater as a child and was entranced. I still think its good.

OKAY FIRST OF ALL, Dune had technology and complex machines. You just didn't have THINKING MACHINES. And lol if you are so autistic that you cant see how fighting a massive war against a machine uprising and having it loving CODIFIED into your religion might make society shy away from that line of development. Edit2: Here's a story of a great pyranees that saved his goats from burning to death and also added a bunch of baby deer to his flock. https://www.google.com/amp/sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2017/10/16/odin-would-not-abandon-his-flock-as-firestorm-approach/amp/ Bored has a new favorite as of 19:05 on Jan 15, 2018 |

I feel that any one talking about Dune needs to be reminded that it has orange eyed sex witches who can only be defeated by Duncan Idaho's penis.

I mean, the series does, but not Dune itself. The series is great, but Dune is it's own thing. Sort of like Ender's Game really stands apart from Speaker, Xenocide, and Children which sort of do their own thing in the same universe but.... later. edit: thought I was in the Dune thread, but point still stands

It's a lot less funny when you have 20lbs of VERY ANGRY cat trying to use all of it's pointy and bitey parts on you. At least while you're in the middle of the wash. Afterwords when you have it rolled up in a towel, it's funny. The rare times I've needed to bathe my Maine Coons, I'd armor up with double layers of sweats and pair of work gloves and stuff them into a mesh bag much like that. Thankfully, cats are mostly self-cleaning so I only needed to do it maybe every other year or so.

Apparently they prevent scratches and bites pretty well. Also care workers. Old people with dementia tend to bite I guess.

My friend had to work with seniors and there were a couple that you had to interact with them through a mitten/puppet for safety reasons. One person decided they had built a good rapport and decided to skip the mitten puppet, she got bit bad.
