baw posted:Here in Italy restaurants get negative reviews all the time from tourists who think it's bad service if the waiter doesn't come up to your table every five minutes asking if you need refill and/or isn't constantly smiling I have a real love of reviews for local places. Theres a review for Ben Nevis giving it 3 stars, marked down because it was high, plus marks for good toilets. Theres also a 5 star review for a local Vietnamese restaurant saying 'the smell of sewage was not overwhelming'

Maine had a warmer day on Saturday. A lot of the snow and ice melted, and there were floods. Then it got super cold again. All of the floodwaters froze. The melt took a while to get to the area and then by the time it got there, it was cold enough to freeze it in place. That car was parked overnight in a perfectly dry carpark. How Also, I'm surprised that people taking pictures of their food bothers people so much. Of all the ways to annoy people with your meal, I couldn't imagine anything beyond chewing with your mouth open or throwing it at people as something that'd set people off.

Yeah, it's not the food so much that gets people as the "look at me and my tedious bullshit" that goes along with the fad. edit: how long does something need to be going on before it stops being a "fad" and is just who we are now? marshmallow creep has a new favorite as of 16:10 on Jan 16, 2018 |

People multitask all the time so I'd imagine just having a conversation while they're doing that. It's not like it's golf and everyone needs to be quiet while they line up a shot. And I'd probably just eat my own food so Having to stand in line behind someone holding up the line because they're not sure about what they're getting in a fast-food/coffee/etc place sounds like more of a plague than that to me.

My husband and I went backpacking for a week, spending every moment in each other's exclusive company. When we got back to civilization we went to a diner and were catching up on current events and friends on our phones while we were eating. Got the worst stink eye from this old lady for being horrible youths ignoring each other on a date. Oh well. We were talking and showing each other things and having a good time so people can judge all they want.
